cover-art issues in n-Stream (using LMS as server)

Posted by: Alco on 15 April 2013

Hello guys,

I'm now using my new ND5xs for the last 3 weeks and it sounds amazing!

I've tried several servers (Asset, LMS and Twonky, the latter on a QNAP NAS)

Tbh, I disliked Twonky most and LMS best. Luckily I already had/knew LMS as I was using a Squeezebox Touch, until I got the ND5xs.

I also prefer Ipeng compared to n-stream, but that's besides the point now.

The main issue that still bothers me is that I sometimes miss album cover-art.

Sometimes it doesn't show at all, but sometimes it does, only when I play a certain track/album.

So, when I select an artist just to see the albums I don't see cover-art, but when I then select a track/album to play, the cover-art suddenly shows up.

Anyone know what might be the cause/solution ?

regards,

Alco

Hi Alco,

I have moticed this on one or two occasions. Originally, I thought it was a u-Serve foible but now O now it is an issue with n-Stream as I can see the artwork in n-Serve.

Sorry, I don't have a fix for you, but my issue eventually resolved itself over time.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your contribution.

I seem to have found the cause of the missing cover-art.
Although I can't explain how/why, it seems that my CD-ripping software is to blame.

I've been using EAC for >3 years now, and it worked fine with my SB Touch.

I manually inserted cover-art and it was found by the Ipeng app for my SBT.

Now, I have 4 CD's of Irish singer/songwriter Luka Bloom. They all have cover-art.

Still, n-stream only shows the cover-art when a track/albums is played. (not while only browsing)

I deleted these 4 CD's from my HD and ripped them again, this time using the free 30-days trial version of dBpoweramp. Result....n-Stream immediately recognized the cover-art.

I repeated the same thing with a few other CD's, all of 'em with succes!

Downside is... I only have 4 days left with the free trial-version.

It seems that the only way to get a complete version is to order one online, using credit-card or Pay-pal. (two things I don't have/want!)

cheers,

Alco
