Uniti believes I have a wired network

Posted by: Bongo on 15 April 2013

For some reason my uniti has decided that it is "wired" and will not let me select a wireless network.

On the Network Settings option the Wireless option is locked at "Not used-wired". When this is selected I get the error "wireless setup cannot be done while a wired network is connected"... "Press ok to abort"

There is no way out of this loop. I have tried the usual turning it off and on again. I have a goods signal next to the unit with my iPad and with other kit around the house.

Prior to this it was fine.

Anybody help?

If nothing else helps you can try to reset all settings to factory defaults (section 4.9 in the manual). However, please note that by doing this you will lose ALL user settings so perhaps it could be wise to consult your dealer (or Naim support) first before performing this.

Can you temporarily plug then unplug a network cable to see if that sorts it out?

Hi Ian (and Osprey). I'm out of the country at the moment but will try the cable first and then reset to factory if that doesn't work. I've asked my dealer (The Sound Organisation) if they have any tips and will catch up with them when I get back on Friday.

I'll try a cable first, then a cable & the external drive so see what the unit thinks!

I think it's sulking as I'd slightly re-sited the speakers.

I tried a wired network - worked fine. I then tried various things with/without the cable but still no joy. There are no signal issues as this was tested with the uniti next to 2 different routers...

so did a factory reset and now it won't respond to the remote - so can't set up the network!

looks like its back to the dealer - a big round trip twice!

any other advice welcome

Sorry to hear that you have run into even deeper problem. You can try to get the remote to respond again by resetting it (section 1.2, NaimUniti Troubleshooting Guide).

The remote control does not work

The remote could be set to the wrong system code. To reset the remote control to the default system code point the remote at the NaimUniti andpress the following buttons at the same time: aux, Info (i) and disp.

Thanks - have taken it to the dealer anyway so they can check it out. They said the same but will feel better if they give it the all clear!

Will keep you posted - and thanks for the advice Osprey!

Good, I hope that the dealer can sort it out for you. Indeed let us know how things develop and what the outcome will be.

The Uniti went back to the dealer; they got it working on wireless and updated the firmware - it's currently on anm extended test until I pick it up.

The remote control problem was due to the reset code on the remote being for the Unitiqute - not the Uniti; this has been rectified. So that's why the remote didn't work.

Fingers crossed when I get it back.

Sounds good so far. Hopefully you will get a problem free Uniti back in no time.
