SN+NAP250/2

Posted by: LCV on 21 April 2013

I just added a Nap250-2 to my system (SN+HICAP DR + NDX and MBL 126) and I love the sound quality.

with the nap 250  there is a remarkable step up and I can really appreciate the difference.

Next step will be a PSU for my NDX.

I would like to now wich is the best sequence to turn on and of my system.

I ran a 250.2 on the end of a SN for a while until I could afford a 282. I too liked it's presentation.

However, depending on finances, I really suggest aiming for a 282 first.

Power on: sources, power supply's, preamp, power amp Power off: power amp, power supply's, preamp, sources. I too not long ago had supernait hicap and 250.2 have you tried bi amping. I found supernait amp to mids and 250.2 to tweeters sounded amazing. I then went for supercap which set me up for 252 then 300 and a better source.

Taken from Naim frequently asked questions!

To avoid lots of clicks and thumps through your speakers, Naim recommend the following power on and power off sequence:

Power ON:
Sources
Power supplies/Pre Amp
Power Amp

Power OFF:
Power Amp
Power supplies/Pre Amp
Sources

Note that the power amp may emit a thump at switch on or switch off but any additional thumps and clicks will be minimised by following the above procedure
