Check out  http://knobfeel.tumblr.com. This site has been quoted as "The internets most niche website is also one of its most brilliant" in the New Republic  and well received in many other sites. Arcam and Cambridge Audio quote the reviews on their websites!

There's something to be said for a good knob. My best was the knob on a Pioneer TX9500II tuner.

Weighty, silvery, tactile, flywheel assisted, no slack, backlash or runout. A single twirl took the pointer from one end of the dial to the other, smooth as a ripple on a septic tank.

I had a Kenwood tuner when I stayed in USA

It had a tuning knob to die for,  smoo-oo-oo-th as silk & a great flywheel effect

Playing the knob for 5 minutes was a great way to relieve the stresses of the day
