NaimUniti2
Posted by: recruit on 29 April 2013
Hi All, I am new to this forum and new to Naim as a user and wanted to ask a quick question, which I hope you don't find silly, but can the NaimUniti2 be put into standby or is it always power off by the switch on the rear of the unit?
Thank in advance
John

There is no standby option available. Many leave their devices on all the time. If one wants to turn it off the switch in the back is the only choice.

Out of curiosity why turn it off? Is it a "green" issue? I can't imagine it would use much electricity just "on"

There is quite a bit on the forum about the pro's and con's of leaving your Naim gear (including Uniti) on all the time......or not. Do a search and you will find plenty of info. In terms of how much electricity it uses, it has a quiescent power consumption of 35W, which is quite high in relative terms to other electrical items around the house.

Well I have left it on over night and the uniti was not even warm to the touch so I might as well leave it like this, as do not like keep on turning off and on constantly!

There is a reason why the switch is behind!

I leave my SU on 24/7.

What do you mean, by switch to none?

Rupert, I think he meant going to 'Speakers' on the Settings and choosing 'None'. In this mode, the SU is not sending any signals to the speakers but the electronics are still on and warmed up. This is the mode you use for treating the SU as a analog or digital source to connect to a preamplifier or an external DAC.
