Seasick steve
Posted by: EAROTICA on 30 April 2013
On hearing that seasick Steve has brought out a new album I decided to dig out some of his older ones. I had forgotten how good an how well recorded they are aswell. Then I realised I don't have any more music of this genre or style an would really love to discover some more. So could you please suggest any seasick steve style music for me please.
Many thanks,
Mike
Sorry can't help with your question Mike, but how are you getting on with Porcupine Tree?
ATB
Andy.
Have you tried Left Lane Cruiser? I'd go for the album Bring Yo Ass to the Table.
Hi Mike
Have you tried Pandora or Spotify?
Anyways what about The Black Keys (their early releases)? Jack White's oeuvre? Willis Earl Beal? Or any of the Delta-style blues legends?
Seasick Steve did some production work with Modest Mouse, a well-known band here in the Pacific Northwest. Good stuff.
Have not had a chance to play them much as I am auditioning some Tellurium Q Black speaker cables.
I am playing more familiar material to test them, so far very good results!!
What is the upgrade path like on a rp8?

have a good weekend
Richard
Hi Mike, Yes enjoyed the weekend, I hope likewise. I have quite a lot of new vinyl that I have been working my way through.
Not sure from your last message, but did you check out Hound Dog Taylor, I have a few titles on original LP worth seeking out or they are still available on CD, and if you like do try RL Burnside.
At the time of writing I am looking at the Seasick Steve direct to acetate LP which has just been delivered, will let you know how it sounds soon. Have also opened a separate topic on the subject. You will probably know this but in case, have you tried Seasick Steves earlier stuff before he came to widespread attention - Seasick Steve & The Level Devils.
Cheers
Just looking in once in a while,
if you like Sea Sick Steve, have a listen to the original.
Have a listen to early Otis Taylor his music is very personal about him self and his fore bearers and the atrocities they had to endure, real blues from the heart of Southern States of America.
oldie

Hi Richard,
Where did you get the Seasick Steve direct to acetate LP from?
Steve
Just found out it's available at a number of places including Amazon.
Thanks Richard
Hi Richard,

Richard, I've been asked where to find this LP in the UK as well. Supposedly Amazon and some others have a long 2-3 month wait on this.
That is an awfully long wait. Granted that I am not in the UK, but I ordered my direct to acetate LPs on Sunday from Third Man and the expected delivery date is tomorrow.

I got my copy from Resident records in Brighton, they do a good mail order service. Ordered mine on Saturday delivered Monday. £18.99 plus £3.50 postage

If you buy from here you will also be supporting a proper independent record shop, rather than someone like Amazon, which is something I believe we should all be doing as music lovers.
Also worth checking out, and they are usually my first port of call when online record shopping is Diverse Vinyl in Wales, excellent service and have recently linked up with Audio-t doing vinyl roadshows around the country. Drop them an email or phone, they can usually source mostly anything available
Cheers

Richard, thank you.
