Minimum speaker cable length with Qute?

Posted by: DIL on 26 May 2013

Hi,

wondering if the Qute demands the 3.5m min. (NACA5) cable length expected with legacy (chrome/olve) or current hi-end naim kit?

My set-up has the Qute midway between speakers so a shorter cable (say 2m / side) would be sufficient.

Any thoughts...

That won't be a problem at all

I originally bought a Uniti, and the dealer said minimum of three metres after I said I only need two; I did as told. But see what others say. Thanks!

No minimum specified for UnitiQute. Nor is use of NACA 5.

Two metres would be fine.

I asked Naim directly and they said 2m is fine with the UQ but not anything shorter

Hi All

Can someone tell me if 2.5m runs of Tellurium Q Blue speaker cable will be ok for my UQ2 please?

Inductance/metre: 20 uH  (0.96 uH according to Hi-Fi Choice and resistance/metre of 24mohm)

Capacitance/metre: 39 pF

Many thanks

Neil

Seriously? I thought modern Naim stuff didn't need the effect of a length of speaker cable. My Qute runs on about 60cm of QED 79...

Should be fine. A Scottish co. website has a .pdf for their K20 cable (which is very similar to the NACA4) Values are a little different but not wildly so. If you can use NACA5 I would do so as it is very likely the Qute was designed and refined with this cable as the benchmark. I've noticed a difference in SQ even on this 'entry level' product (and the Lite) when swapping cables, ending up with me binning Gale, QED and some other unidentified stuff!
