How to delete entire music library from UnitiServe

Posted by: Rzme0 on 07 June 2013

My UnitiServe is going to a new home.

Can anyone advise how I can delete everything from it so it is pristine for its new daddy?

Thank you

You could move albums to the trash individually (with the delete function) and then empty the trash.

But that might take a while.

I don't believe there's a function for resetting to factory default which is what you ideally need - but Naim HQ may be able to help you there.

As selling (or indeed giving away) any storage device s/h with music on it technically falls foul of copyright laws I'd have thought Naim would have built in some form of reset facility somewhere.

Thanks Jon - I started the manual route using the Windows app but it's a pain.

I wonder if that really, really nice, handsome, helpful, fabulous Mr Harris is around anywhere?

Hmmm, all I can find is:

4.8.6 Manage Music

Selecting Manage Music opens the Manage Music menu to provide options to Edit Genres, Assign Genres, Rename Music, Delete Music, Move Music, Backup Music and to view the Recycle Bin.

.......

Delete Music: Enables Albums to deleted. Selecting Albums displays a list of items and provides the option to delete the selected album. Selecting Artists displays albums listed by artist.

Note: Deleting items moves them to the Recycle Bin from where they can be permanently deleted or restored.

Regards,
Frank.

Thanks Frank - that's all I could see as well so it ended up being a tap, tap, tap tap, tap etc until they were all gone. Emptied trash then orderly shutdown, reboot and presto - empty box.

Thanks chaps

Glad you got it done - but it does seem a tedious route.

Perhaps Naim could look at a Restore To Factory Default option somewhere in the software on future upgrades.

It's not an unusual feature - and as time goes by it's likely more and more UnitiServes are going to find their way passing through different owners.

Guys,

We have Steve and me on support and we try to keep an eye on here as much as possible but we do have a sticky at the top of all the forums saying that if you need support from us then contact directly.

Cheers

Phil

May I just pop my 2p in? For the record, any time I've ever needed tech and product support on this new fangled streaming stuff Phil has been there  (at outrageous times, often well outside normal hours) to assist me and fix my mistakes for me. It's service at a level and quality that is rare and delightful.

Agree with above. Exceptional help.
