History of the Eagles - worth i-playering

Far from my favourite band but last night's part 1 on BBC 2 was a really excellent documentary. Part 2 is tonight. Most of the footage is live, or in rehearsal and does remind you they did come up with some excellent songs. A bit of an insight into the music biz again too. Even one of my most hated songs, Hotel California was nearly acceptable (live version). Looks like they had a lot of fun on the way before it all went wrong. Joe Walsh seems a West Coast double of Keith Richards, which is almost worth watching for alone, for me, his Rocky Mountain Way live is the best bit of music in the programme. Nice to see Tim Schmit from Poco towards the end, they are the country-rock band IMHO.

We both enjoyed the 2 films. Love 'em or hate 'em they did some great tunes, and it was enjoyable to get extra background to some of them.

They're one of my favourite bands and I thought it was superb. I hadn't realised just now bitter some of the squabbles became and they should really have been called The Frey/Henley band.

The BBC In Concert from 1973 was also well worth watching. The quality of their live vocals and musicianship must have seemed near miraculous at the time.
