Yay! Goldfrapp!

Posted by: Kevin-W on 11 June 2013

Exciting news today from one of my very favourite bands (seen them 19 times, have every record, DVD etc).

There's a new Goldfrapp album on the way, "Tales of Us", out 9th September, on vinyl, CD, MP3, 24-bit WAV and a limited edition deluxe box (which contains CD, 24 bit WAV on DVD, vinyl, extra CD of exclusive material, poster, lithograph and book; plus the first 500 are signed by the band).

From what Alison was saying on the radio today, the new material is quite noir-ish, with hints of the first album "Felt Mountain". New stuff will be unveiled at the Manchester Festival and Somserset House Summer Series gigs next month.

Can't wait. Anyone else a fan?

There's a short teaser film on the website:here

Can I ask a question of you hardened Goldfrapp fans (this was my first outing)?

Does Will Gregory ever play live shows? He wasn't at Birmingham. I believe he is from a classical tradition, and it may the live thing isn't his 'bag'. What's the story from you guys who know about that sort of thing?

He's always at the gigs - behind the sound desk.

Hi Kevin,

I don't think that's the case on this tour - he certainly wasn't at the show on Saturday - I was sat next to the desk :-)

Fantastic sound and show yet again, well polished now.

Would love to go yet again, but tonight is it for the 'tour' apart from specials & festivals.

Hi Steve

He was definitely at the desk for the Somerset House and Hammy Odeon gigs last year, and for the cinema broadcast he was mixing the sound from Air Studios. For the BBC 6Music broadcast in front of an audience at Maida Vale he even played a couple of songs with the band!

On another note, it might be worth you attending the Greenwich Music Time festival in August, they are bound to pull out all the stops for that one.

Kevin, yes, I am seriously considering the Greenwich gig, and wondered about half inching my daughters Glasto ticket

Admit to still being rather shocked as to how good the live act was - I had not seen her live before.

That is a mistake that will not be made ever again, and her signed tales of us tour poster is now centre stage in the office.

In an interview on 6 music last week he said he'd been to the Bristol gig to see Alison which suggested to me that he was not at the other gigs.
