Parks & Recreation Anyone?

This has really grown on us.  We watch it with my teenage son and it's humour (surprisingly these days) crosses the generation gap.

Ron Swanson is sheer class.

+1 Graeme.

I have to admit I only started watching it because the divine Rashida Jones was in it  but after a very slow start it has really grown on me too. In fact, I think is the best thing currently on TV after Mad Men.

It's beautifully written and played, and very funny. Amy Poehler is superb in the lead role and, as G says, Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson is one of the best comedy characters in years.

I love the fact that, despite his mega-macho deadpan-ness (no such word I know) he is really touchingly fond of his employees, and Leslie Nope in particular.

His face is a masterclass in itself - the smile he put on when potentially faced with severe department cuts was so funny we had to rewind it and watch again....and when he got shot in the back of the head....and April is too like my daughter for words.

It's a great ensemble cast and the best news we've not seen series (season?) 1, so a box set is imminent......ppppoker face pppokerface! G

+1 for me too. Much as I love Ron I think it works, as all great comedy does, because of the ensemble; great writing and a genuine love of people. That latter point is critical. It's why I despised Little Britain.

Did anyone notice that this (series three) had snuck back onto BBC4 on Tuesday nights?

Still as good as ever - Swanson particularly - and Rob Lowe as Chris "my body is a microchip" Traeger is a very welcome addition to a fabulous ensemble cast.

Couldn't wait so bought the box set as a Christmas present for my son.....We're half way through and it is consistently excellent - Li'l Sebastian is NOT a small horse....G
