Hifi journey

I have had a uniti qute for a few years and have always been pleased with it, I had it linked up to a pair of neat motive 3, but have recently upgraded the speakers to a pair of S.H. Neat ultimatum mfs which has transformed the sound into something really special. Very happy, I thought the qute would be no where near powerful enough for the bigger speakers but its surprising. I do have a rel strata 3 linked up which helps a lot, but if anyone is unsure about the power of their 30w naim amp - I would say try it!

Want to upgrade to a superuniti next, but I'm not desperate to change like I expected to be. Don't know if this helps anybody?

Also I have my music collection on a qnap 259 which works well, but recently I've tried installing 'twonky' on my windows 8 pc and I can't notice any difference between the two... I'm wondering whether to sell the qnap or am I missing something? Cheers

If your computer is new enough to have Windows 8 as the original operating system it's probably pretty efficient in energy use.  So one of the benefits of a separate NAS flies out the window. A NAS will always wake up quicker and can be done remotely so it depends on how you use your 'system'.  Main advantage to changing is one less box cluttering up your home.

Thanks for the reply, it has reminded me about its facility to access it remotely - I will look into setting that up thanks

I upgraded from UQ to SU a couple of months ago and for me the improvement is clear through Totem Arros - bass depth, clarity, detail - but of course it's a lot more money
