Great Second Albums.

Reminded of great second albums by this one. What's yours?

Graham.

Here are two 'second' albums from my Blue Horizon collection. 'Mr Wonderful', so good. Chicken Shack 'OK Ken?' is a great LP although some will find Stan Webb's imitations of Harold Wilson and the like a bit dated now. On a recent CD release these were omitted but having lived in that era I find them quite nostalgic. Two great album covers lost in CD or download format.

Two superb cover designs.

Total understand your review on the Eno album. My brother in law gave me his copy for that very reason he thought it was rubbish too. I just think as a second album it his better than his first but maybe not his best. I will leave that another thread.

Regards Graham.

Interesting view point Grahem.

I have most of eno's albums and i think here comes the warm jets is one of his best.

His early work is far superior to the newer stuff IMO

Sorry guys, it was rude of me to criticise your tastes. I guess, given the source of the recommendation & the fact that I really should have enjoyed this album based on the various descriptions and reviews, I was really taken aback by it. I've tried to listen to it a couple of times but I really hate it!

No worries Tony, i think eno is a very particular taste, my wife hates it ( thinks a lot of it is like whale music ! )

Coincidentally, just finished listening to this with my 13-year-old daughter, who proclaimed it "awesome ... this is so good!" which made my heart glad.

This album, to me, is perhaps the greatest "sophomore" effort of all-time, and most definitely (again, to me) The Band's masterpiece.

Dog Man Star by Suede

Another example of a band peaking with its 2nd album (IMO, of course).

It might be the greatest second album ever; but I can't get past the appalling cover, or the anti-grammatical "clever" band name.

She is clearly a young lady with impeccable taste!

But the band name itself isn't "anti-grammatical," punning album title aside.

No, I suppose not. A "Little Feat" is something like tying your shoelaces, whereas a "Big Feat" is something like curing polio. It doesn't have to be about shoe size.

It's just a band name. Little Feet, slightly modified. Just like The Beatles, Led Zepellin and Megadeth.

Go on press the white triangle, you know you want too.

The band was named after Lowell George's small feet.
