Top 100 Albums of the 80's list

A  list of Top 100 albums from the 80's on pitchfork.

http://pitchfork.com/features/...bums-of-the-1980s/8/

It is worth a look if you are a fan of Alternative ish bands from that decade. I suspect from the "what are you listening to thread" there are a few people on here .

This list wont apeal to american soft rock , metal fans or simular ilk !

As with any list it may have missed a few of your own choices, for myself it is missing

The Wedding Present's  George Best .

The Wonderstuff's eight legged groove machine ( pretty sure that was 1989)

Echo and the Bunnymen , Ocean Rain

Overall i think it captures the various moves and changes in styles  from punk in the start of the decade through post punk and beginings of "baggy"  dance music  in latter part

I would agree with number 1 also ,,

Surely one of the Half Man Half Biscuit albums should be in there.

Also reggae is not represented.

Fred, Would agree Half Man haf biscuit could be included in the list

Then i would possibly add from my short lived goth phase

sisters of mercy - first last and always

Bauhaus -Mask

Kevin,

7 Songs - 23 Skidoo , i have never heard that until this morning , found it on u tube,, keeping me busy while working , really rather good

From the Hip - Section 25  , not heard that either , but you can hear the New Order / Joy Division influence from Bernard Summner

An interesting list, but as always with these things there are many notable albums missing; Not one of Peter Gabriel's '80s albums - any one of them could have made the list.  Also missing the Human League's Dare - perhaps too obvious?  Good to see The Talking Heads in there, but personally I would rate Speaking in Tongues as the best of their '80s output.  Did I miss The Clash in there somewhere? London Calling must surely have made the list.

No it shouldn't Richard, it was released in December 1979.

Kevin, in the UK, yes, but January 1980 in the US, so it should make any US list - just.
