Brian Eno suggestions

Posted by: Dozey on 11 July 2013

I find a distinct absence of any Brian Eno in my collection. What do you think are his best efforts, or most approachable stuff?

I personally love his early stuff. Good albums are

Here come the warm jets

Another green world

In recent stuff , have a Look at

Panic of looking

Small craft on a milk sea

Also have. Look at Eno and David Byrne, everything that happens will happen today

Thanks Cbr600. I will investigate. I see he had a collaboration with John Cale which I might also look at.

Another Green World
Here Come the Warm Jets
Before and After Science
Taking Tiger Mountain (by Strategy)

These four are his most accessible and IMHO his best.

I have a personal love of Ambient Music for Airports, but "ambient" is to be taken seriously.  Agree that the 4 above are the best, though.

I have a suggestion for Brian Eno but probably not one the OP was looking for. To misquote Mark Twain: 'The omission of Brian Eno CDs alone would make a fairly good library out of a library that didn't have a CD in it'.

I'm with you there Mr Marou!

Apollo is quite superb IMHO.  If your system can cope with deep bass you are in for a treat.

A favourite of mine is his collaboration with John Cale, 'Wrong way up' which includes the marvellous Spinning Away.

Another Green World + Low (with Bowie, Glass -  Symphony)

Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks

is my preferred ambient album....outstanding

If we're counting Low, which is a David Bowie album, let's throw in the first two Roxy Music albums, Roxy Music and For Your Pleasure.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - even Mr Marou's, which I found rather amusing. I have the Roxy LP's.

I will look into Another Green world, Here come the warm jets, and Apollo to see how I get on with the ambient stuff.
