Hi Guys, i have a spare NAC82 based system in the house that i would like to be able to access music on my NAS drive. the main system has NDS/UServe SSD each with separate hardwired connection to the router.

how do i go about this? would be grateful to hear from someone who has actually successfully done this.

enjoy

The best thing would be to pick up an ND5 or an NDX, it will behave exactly the same as your main system (except without volume control if you are using that) as far as app control is concerned, and will access the same content on your Serve. If you haven't pointed your Serve at the NAS for management then doing so will do what you need.

If you want to keep costs down you could use a non-Naim uPnP streamer.  They will see your UnitiServe as well - the US can do, I think, 8 separate streams in parallel allowing you to play different music in different rooms at the same time.

I'm not up to speed with the current state of the market but there are players avaialble from Marantz, Cambridge Audio etc at the £400ish mark.

Or if you want to keep it really cheap and have a smart phone, then use a uPnP app like PlugPlayer or 8player and plug that into the NAC.

You could try a Qute, or former forum favourite Munch used to recommend a Denon DNP720AE - they're available for around £200 on Amazon.
