Did backup but how to restore

Posted by: Octa_dyn on 16 July 2013

Finally got my NAS working and did a full backup on my Unitiserve 2tb. But how do I restore if/when needed? Also can a differential restore be done? I used the DTC to do the backup in the maintenance section and the only restore I see is through system functions and restore a playlist. I did not backup any playlists because I never created them. Last is there some way of doing an incremental restore in case I add some music just to my pc then NAS instead of ripping a cd down?

Thanks for any help

Hi George,

Im not sure how to restore, if / when it ever comes to that.

For that Im working on the basis that I will take contact with Naim Support to help me through it.

However to your other question, it is possible to do a Differential Back Up.

Go to: DTC / Tools / Maintenance / Back Up Monitor / and then under 'Back Up Type' select 'Differential' from the drop down menu.

I think your other question is more of a PC Back Up question.

Easiest way is to rip a CD to US every time and Schedule a Back Up to your NAS to run at regular intervals.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Chris

Once I scheduled the full backup the differential backup was automatically created. I was looking for a way to do a restore (either full or partial). I would think when you have a backup procedure there would be an easy way to restore.

Bump Anybody have an Idea? My dealer says to web browse into it and I still can't find a restore feature other than restoring a playlist (which I did not set up).

Thanks

Thanks AllenB

It just seems a little complicated to have to create a secondary music store on the Nas. Not sure why Naim just doesn't have a restore program (button) asking where to restore from.

Well I just hope I don't have to restore

AllenB,

This is the right way to do it. And the secondary Store may take an extra day, but is a lot safer than changing the back-up share to a primary store, if you loose it, you loose all your back-up.
