flac dbpoweramp

sorry this has probably been covered but unless there's a search I've missed on this wonderful new iteration of the Naim forum I must ask it again.
I decided to download dbpoweramp to rip to flac for my uniQute only Qute says can't play -unsupported file.
The file is on my NAS and is fine as i can I can play it form my pc.
is there some setting I'm missing in dbpoweramp?

It should just work. All my flac files end in .flac
If you right click one of your files and go to audio properties, is the file shown as FLAC encoded, 2 channel 44.1 KHz 16 bit?
You don't say what your UPnP server is.

It's whatever the one in buffalo NAS Linkstation is.
All the values you suggest are there and flac files I've downloaded are played by the Qute and I can't see any obvious differences in them.
a strange one indeed.

Strange, I have used db poweramp to rip all my CD's and have no problems playing them on my Qute.
The only time I saw this was when I tried to play an Apple Lossless file on the Qute.
What did you use to rip before Db. Poweramp?

It may me that the Buffalo UPnP server does not support flac. Google brings up threads to suggest that this could be the case. (Depending on versions etc)
I would suggest putting one of your flac files on a USB stick and the seeing if the Qute will play it.
I would also suggest the Qute can read an mp3 file from the Buffalo.

I have the same problem with my Qute - hope you'll get to my problems direct with this links:

I'm using Buffalo Linkstation Duo, but the problem exists streaming from Asset as well (well, it was able to play the files, but transcoded to LPCM, meaning the qute rejected the FLAC as offered from the server), so this could be something with the Qute. I'll suggest you contact Phil Harris from Naimnet directly as I did.

This kind of thing will usually be an issue with the UPnP server rather than the ripper - at a basic level the UPnP server has to be able to read and decode the source files and negotiate with the UPnP client as to whether the UPnP client can handle the file natively or whether the file should be transcoded into an alternative format that the UPnP Client can handle.
We haven't tried the Bufallo NASs here but their implementation of Twonky does seem to be causing problems...

you could always download a flac file, or use foobar or mediamonkey to rip one to check whether dBpoweramp is likely to be the cause of your problem.

I had a similar problem with my netgear Stora. Once the flac files were added to the Stora (nas), I had to re-share the folder before my Uniti would see the new files.
