OMD live at Radio 2

Posted by: ray davis on 22 January 2011

I applied online to get some tickets for a group i have always wanted to see. And luckily i have a Pair for the Mermaid Theatre on thurs 3rd feb. Only one small i point i found out on the small print was that more tickets will be issued than seats. Also states that i may not get a seat first cone first serve etc.
Has any one here been to a Radio 2 live concert before if so got any tips.  Plus side its Jo Wiley and i love her, miss her Live Lounge from Radio 1.

You lucky man Ray. I would have loved to have applied for tickets, but I live too far away to make the trip. Enjoy when you get there.

Saw them in Southampton. Absolutely fantastic. Played Architecture and Morality in its entirety and then every single. Andy did not miss a beat. You will have a fantastic time! Enjoy.

It was Enola Gay that first caught my attention. So chuffed they came out with History of Modern.

You lucky fella - loved the first three albums. The early Peel sessions too. I remember going to see them in September '79 (just after"Electricity" came out on Factory - I still have it in the ultra-valuable "thermographic" sleeve), supporting Gary Numan at Hammersmith Odeon. They were fabulous, even if Andy McCluskey's dancing and vocals were pretty risible.

I presume as it's a Radio 2 concert it's going to be broadcast? If so I'm setting the old Nak!

Well what a night, a fantastic hour of entertainment. Front row seats with some new friends.  The mermaid is a really small venue, and the acoustics were superb. If you want to have a listen go to iplayer and have a listen. They played the oldies and some new stuff.

In the 80s I had tickets for an OMD concert in Copenhagen, but when I and my best friend arrived at the concert venue, we found that it had been cancelled. So I never got to listen to OMD live. Fortunately I have managed to locate a healthy slice of their output over the years.

Best wishes,
Peter
