Kuro Plasma's in 2011

Posted by: Wazza69 on 22 January 2011

Hi Guys, About two years ago I was in Infidelity and they had a Kuro plasma playing and I was stunned at the quality. I am in the market for a 42" and was wondering if a second hand Kuro is still a good idea? Do people think other brands have caught up or is it still the gold standard? Thanks

I've owned a KRL-37V Kuro for just over 13 months now it is still a stunning LCD, but like yourself i'm now in the market or rather was for a 42" plasma as i've just bought a panasonic TX-P42V20B and it is stunning i must say.

Panasonic have bought the Kuro brand name and apparantley are going to manufacture these and release in the next releases of TV's it is alleged so food for thought!,

Not sure what I would do if I had to replace my 141FD.  There are a couple of used ones for sale on Amazon....but at 2X original list price!

Would have to be another plasma.   LCD's have improved, but not enough for my eyes.

Pio never did figure out how to produce a Kuro at a profit.  So let's hope Panny does.

I have had a Panasonic TX-PF46G10 for a year now, and I'm more than happy with it . . . I'd say take a look at it if you can.
Best Regards

Looked at the highest end Panasonic plasma (VT20 3D)

It's very good, but Kuro is in a different league.

If you can still find one, grab it !

Rumour hs it (ie the dealer said) that Panasonic took over the technology and the engineers from Pioneer TV group so Panasonic TVs should be the natural heir of the Kuros

My KURO is three years old and is as good as the day I bought it. Second hand should be fine but I would not part with mine as I have never seen anything else come close. In view of this you may find it difficult to find one.
