I bought SWMBO two Russell Watson CDs for Christmas : "Encore" and "La Voce". This was after a few "hints" from her.
Just listened to them this afternoon. What an overrated singer he is. Don't know whether it's the recordings or the arrangements, but the CDs sound bl**dy awful. His voice doesn't seem to be in time with the music. He is almost totally lacking in rubato and as I don't think he's even heard of crescendo/diminuendo. How did he ever get to be so popular?
What really annoyed me about the "Encore" CD was that it produced the worst sound I have ever heard from my systems. The various instruments and "singer" didn't seem to be in time with each other for a large part of the CD. I had to get up and put in another CD just to check that my equipment hadn't suddenly gone pear-shaped.
