That's a relief. Am I £1,500 better off?

Back in 2006 I went contracting for two months, but really didn't take to it. So since then I've been a regular employee. Then, on Tuesday, a letter from the company that provided my 'umbrella' limited company arrived with a letter from a debt collection agency. Gulp. £1,500 late filing penalty from Companies House, plus costs, to have been paid last week!
My wife was very upset, but I was convinced there was a mistake. Hey presto, after calls to Brookson and Companies House, it was confirmed that my company was dissolved in 2008 and that I owed nothing.
Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to go and blow the £1,500 on a MacBook Pro.

Phew! A lucky escape and a salutary warning for some folks too.
Glad SWMBO put her foot down regarding the MackBook Pro. So what bit of Hi-Fi are you going to spend the money on instead?

Last year I missed the financial return deadline and took a £150 hit.
For years the deadline was up to 10 months following year-end accounts date.
Last year the deadline was reduced to 9 months.
I didn't recall getting a notification to that effect and even their webb-site continued to refer to 10 months at the time I got the penalty notice.
Rough justice IMHO, they don't normally take prisoners, so I figured that coughing up the £150 was probably the cheapest option.
Enjoy your £1,500 bonus/reprieve
Cheers

No purchases allowed, I'm afraid Tony. We are sitting tight at the moment, just in case. More CDs is ok though.

I did my tax return last September (big shiny halo)
Since which those nice HMRC people have been discussing a disarrangement between my calculation/entitlement & the HMRC on line system
But the week before Christmas peace ensued
1st week of January I got a letter to say the agreed amount had been paid & when I checked it had got into my bank account 4 days before.
Nice HMRC
Unfortunately it does not buy a new HiCap

I've just noticed how bloody quiet it is in here now. All due to the new forum? Or end of January blues?

It does seem that quite a few are getting arsey for no apparent reason except for a few changes to the forum, which they do not have to pay a subscription for and i just do not understand their mentality

As a man once said " you cannot be serious?"
WTF has the fact it's free(ie paid for in the cost of products) got to do with it being a piss poor piece of work?
I just don't understand your mentality.

BigH the forum has changed for better or worse as your case may be, but changed it has and changed it will stay. There is a thread specifically for people to praise or have a go [ bitch or moan ] and i would expect you to have had your say and in the end the company may change some things but if like other company`s it will take time to achieve. If the forum is now that bad why post why not move on for a short while, I do not like change as a rule but under the circumstances [ this forum ] i will carry on and still enjoy what goes on within.

Chill is the way, but I see it both ways
The forum has changed, OK no issue with that, the new "look", personally I like it.
But it is Naim's call, company image & stuff. That's way it is.
But it was launched before it was ready - sound familiar ??
Did not work out of the box, no search & all the other stuff is a basic must have requirement on any forum - especially this one. Its a shame, it attracts bad reputations, market leaders need to do better.
