A question on favourite 3 songs, but intended for padded cell....

Posted by: Consciousmess on 02 February 2011

Here is a question.  If a compilation was made of 'every person in the world's favourite 3 songs:

How many songs do you think will be on the compilation??!!

Obviously it won't be 3 times the world population.

And I know there must be factors such as what age someone starts liking music, so the number to be estimated is less than the world population.....

I am curious as to what your brilliant brains come up with!!

Around 4 billions?
Posted on: 04 February 2011 by Massimo Bertola
Point is, I don't think 4 billions different songs exist; world population is slightly less than 7 billions, of which probably not more than 2 are in condition to listen regularly to songs, what with age or other reasons. Supposing just one person out of 5.000 is a songwriter, that almost all known or remembered songs come from the last two centuries and that a century sees more or less four generations of people, this would mean that around 4 billions songs may exist so it is possible, after all, that the world podcast would contain around 4 billions different songs.
Ok, it was better than the other option anyway.
