MotoGP 2011

Posted by: Nigel 66 on 03 February 2011

Not too long until the new MotoGP season starts now, and WSB is only weeks away as well.

Stoner seems to be making a good start on the Honda as expected, and will definitely be a contender. It'll be interesting to see how Pedrosa deals with his new team 'mate'. Ben Spies must be in with a real chance this season, and I've got my fingers crossed that Edwards gets a race win - might be his last chance.

Rossi seems to be starting the testing sessions with a bit of mind play again - is he or isn't he fully fit yet? Probably not, but only 13th in Sepang? Hmm, will have to wait and see.

This period always puts me in a good mood as it means that the weather will be better soon, the days longer and lighter which means that my Blade will be coming out soon!

looking forward to it as well, sold my bike last year so looking to get another for the good weather

Hi Martin

What did you have, and what are thinking about getting?

I bought a CBR 1000rr8 recently, and absolutely love it. Might not be the greatest "commuter" I've ever had, but it still does it - although my trip down the A19 isn't too kind on the tyres.

Scratching on it is amazing though ! By far the best bike I've ever had.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the new season.

Best wishes, Nigel

Yup, i'm looking forward to an exciting season too. I recently picked up a mint Zepher 550 only 10,000 on the clock. Trouble with the carbs straight away as to be expected.  Got it for nostalgia reasons and quick zips to the sea front and back during the summer to get the fish & chips.

Nice.

A friend of mine still has a Kawasaki KR1-S that he's had from new. It's in fantastic condition, and you just have to love the smell of that hazy blue smoke when you're following him on a ride.

I miss that nostalgic smell when I go to the GPs.

Hi Nigel

Had 2007 blade then BMW F800 and the latter was amazing fun so mid weight mid size grin machine is in order. The cutting edge sports stuff today is so insane even I don't need it !

Happy biking guys

Blimey, what an eventful race that was!

I bet the spares department will be busy for days...

Lorenzo did well to hold it together, he's such a smooth rider and deserved the win.

Certainly more exciting than last year

I cant believe it. People on this forum discussing Motogp.

Feel a bit sorry for Casey, but generally a good day out for the Brits.

After last years Moto GP , you are accusing F1  of not being exciting?

Oh did you miss the 1st MGP of 2011 as well, yawn?

Sunday - 01.05.2011 - BBC 2 - 12:30 - round 3 - Estoril

Lorenzo on pole then....yawn.... Hoping that Danny the dart changes things within the first bend ...

Hope it's an exciting one!

I don't think Lorenzo is going to run away with this one. The Hondas should eat him alive down the straight (heres hoping so anyway).

If Simmoncelli can stay rubberside down, I think he has a great chance of a maiden Motogp victory.

Dani Pedrosa is bound to make the first corner first, so could be in with a shout if his arm has been fixed.

If its raining though, then Lorenzo will win.

Nice work, Casey.

I can't believe Simoncelli got a drive through for that, and two weeks ago Rossi punted Stoner right off the road and got off scot free.

Anyway, great result for Stoner. Feel sorry for Pedrosa, he's had way more injuries than he deserves.

I think the collision is a difficult one to call as the camera angles make it difficult to see just how far Simoncelli was in front of Pedrosa. Don't forget a long lens shortens the perspective. A helicopter shot of the incident would be very interesting. It looks to me that if Dani had kept his line he may have just got away with it as Marco did eventually go wide. All that said however I do think Marco is treading a very fine line.

Loved the fight between Rossi and Dovi at the end, real edge of the seat stuff - brilliant!! Stoner was pure class

Cheers

Is Randy De Puniet ever going to finish a race?

Yup i enjoyed the scrap with Rossi too. He is getting better on that Duke, now if they can just squeeze a few more horse power out of it he may have a run in with the Repsol boys...

At least the championship is wide open and not a one horse race like the last few seasons.

Well done Stoner.

Enjoying the season so far.

P.S. I still miss Suzi Perry though...

regards, steve

125's on BBC2 the red button now.

Rossi's  young brother on bike 13.

Sorry that was meant to have been he is in 13th place.

Posted on: 13 August 2011 by Steven Shaw

He may be Rossi's younger brother but I'm not sure it's Valentino Rossi's younger brother. Louis Rossi who is running in the 125s is French.

A bad start from Ben but what a race from him so far. Be fantastic to see Spies on the podium, man of the race IMO so far!

Come on Ben!!

It's been aninterseting season so far, although I think next years 1000cc's and larger grid are really needed to increase the competition. Starting to really like Lorenzo now, especially as Stoner, despite the obvious talent, is such a sour puss.
It's a shame to see Rossi languishing so far down the order,so I hope Ducati can up their game soon.
Also hope thatCrutchlow gets his confidence back, as I'd hate to see him go the same way as some of the other Brit riders.
Also, such a shame to see Toseland retire. A lovely chap, and a great rider who I think could've done so much more in MotoGP if he had been given the chance.
