Any news on 662/600 ?

Posted by: AMA on 22 July 2013

It's been a year already since Adam has dropped a word on the new 662 preamp and 600  monoblocks

https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...rence-integrated-amp

I failed to gather what Adam meant by "radical passive poweramp" but the idea to simplify the preamp's control/programming facilities and get more power with monoblock looks very attractive.

552/500 is phenomenal technology platform which can be further advanced for those who do not want to compromise the sonic qualities with versatility and box size/count as against power output and ultimate control over speakers.

It was a joke  .

A passive power amp is one where you put 100 watts in and get almost 100 watts out.

I have a feeling with the Ovator 800s now being their flagship speaker, any new reference amplification would be called 8**....probably the 882 preamp and the 800 power amp. Of course the latter would have to be able to source 400 wpc into 4 ohms to earn that name.

And who have expansive credit facilities.........

The joke was very neat and took me a year to get it

Thanks god that I'm still capable to get some of his jokes on the fly.

Or am I ?

Too bad.

I was hoping to see a CD666 appear, able to play CDs backwards too, in order to be able to finally catch the various Satanisms in my collection of rock albums.

I am sure something new will be announced soon .....

there is many pieces of 500 series for sale last time (like never before) .....

My sense is that Naim will first release a replacement for the NAP 500, which will then be followed by a replacement for the NAC 552 after a couple of years. This will also be consistent with the product history, and given that the 552 did receive the PS DR treatment only recently.

tower amp, bigger amp ,for wide bandwidth speakers ,for hires and dsd files.

one dealer told me after they went to naim factory a few month ago.

I do expect power mono blocks from Naim as the next addition in reference series.

There are many power amps of twice the output of 500 which can drive big speakers at realistic volumes -- like Vitus, FM, Boulder, MBL, Soulution.

I think that Naim can take a proper place in this range.

Perhaps the ability to detect irony is inversely proportional to depth of pockets.

Good point Nigel,

I rarely get subtle humour in printed form unless I can read it in the intonation of the person writing. In other words I have to have met the person writing -if only once - to get it!

I have met Adam just once, and imagine his voice when reading what he writes. I cannot say I always get the more subtle aspects, but then I doubt I would face to face either!

But that one was obvious enough for me!

The new series will be the 1100 series. It will go to 11 and be better for it.

Posted on: 22 July 2013 by Agricola

For me the 1100 series is reminiscent of a rather poor series of cars from the British Motor Corporation.

I really hope that Naim never make an an eleven hundred series.

The name is blighted already!

Ha Ha just thinking the same. Gawd they were awful,

In 40 years time the few remaining much derided Naim 1100 series components are found in concrete garages all rusty and seriously on the skunt

Yes - I remember these lemons well for their constant velocity joints, which were in continual need of replacement.

The name "land crab" was bestowed upon them in the country that I live.

Hopefully, the new royal baby will have better looks than BMC's demon 1100 series.......

ermm.. is this the place for the royal baby pictures?

Richard can we move this to another thread?

Probably best to move the thread to a more appropriate room, methinks...

Humour is not a universal language.

Pendant point the "land crab" was an epithet given to the 1800, a different series completely.

My Morris 1300 was an OK car , compared to the alternatives was quite long lasting.

Ah! Are you "Red John"?
