Superuniti HT integration

Posted by: blodsbror on 29 July 2013

Hi!

Does the Superuniti, have any way to disable the volume section so it can be used as a pure power amplifier ?. Or must a volume be set on the SU when running AVR line level preout's to the SU ?

cheers!

I have looked at the Superuniti manual on the Naim website, and although it is not initially obvious, it seems to me that you can configure an analogue input as Unity Gain, (It's sections 4.3.8), so that the Superunitil's volume control will  be inactive on that input.

For more detailed help I suggest you RTM yourself, or ask Naim support via email

That is correct. And yes, after reading the manual, it's not 100% clear. But I will take another look over it. Thanks for the tip on the section number.

I concur with John.  In Section 4.3.8 "AV Fixed Volume" is functionally equivalent to the Unity Gain feature on Naim NAC and NAIT models, which is intended to allow you to use the Volume control on your AVP/AVR without interference from the Volume control on the Naim pre.  I cannot tell if this option is only available for the source into the DIN: Analogue1, or not.

I have until recently used a SU to provide left and right power channels on a multi channel set up. You just set the chosen analogue input to 'fixed' and that's that. I think it fixes the volume at 69 or thereabouts. I then used a NAP100 to biamp a centre speaker too, since tha amp units share the same DNA.
