Connecting my Uniti Qute 2 to a Pre Amp

Posted by: Partcloudy on 04 August 2013

I have a Uniti Qute 2 in the study and a high end Naim system with Linn Lp12 in the lounge/downstairs area (282/HiCap 250). For social occasions where I would like to stream internet radio is it possible to connect the Uniti Qute 2 to my 282 Pre Amp using the digital output? If so what lead do I need and where do I connect to on the 282? Advice welcomed!

The 282 does not have digital input (i.e. no DAC), so you cannot connect the Quite digital output to it, unless you do it through a DAC.

You can connect the analog output of the Qute to an analog input. Since both have volume controls, you might want to use the AV bypass (Unity Gain) feature of the 282. The manual explains how to set Unity Gain and the input to use. I have not used that feature myself.

+1

And, if you go to the trouble of running wire between the two, run two pairs, so you can hear the LP12 in both places, if you want.  That is what I did, effectively, with a DIN <> 4RCA adapter provided by my dealer.  Mine connects the Naim system to my AVP, which is the same idea.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi, I am running a Qute2 line out into my 252/300 and it works superbly well, however you need to set the volume control on the Qute2 remote to work independently of the volume control on the pre-amp remote. You do this by pressing Aux/i/4 on the Qute2 remote at Qute2 start-up, and this will tie the Qute2 remote to the Qute2, preventing both remotes affecting volume levels on both devices.

Add a Dac V1 -connect Qute via dig out.

cheaper than an NDX.

Is it any good though/i.e. does it come close?

I haven't heard the NDX but the Dac is mighty fine and I would be surprised if the NDX is thousands of pounds better.
