N-Stream 3.3.6983
Posted by: rokalf on 14 August 2013
I installed the latest Version and have serious problems. Commands are not accepted and the app gose back to the previous state. Anybody else with the same problems? Mayer even a solution?
Somme update about the CDX2 control problem through n-Stream and my NDS. The problem lies in n-stream 3.3. Indeed, I just changed my old iPhone 3GS for an iPhone 5. Since I still have the old iPhone 3 installed with n-Stream 3.2, I tested whether I could control the CDX2. I could, indicating that n-Stream 3.3 has a problem. Incidentally, I could use Seek2Time with version 3.2. I will keep it until the problem on 3.3 is solved.

I have a NDX and am having the same problem with controlling my CD5 with the latest version of NStream. Naim support: Is this a known issue and do you have a planned date to resolve this?
Hi Guys,
I have an NDX (3.21.00) here and CD automation appears to work fine with n-Stream 3.3. Could you elaborate on exactly what you are experiencing? Do you see the CD controls but they don't do anything or do you not see them at all? Which input is configured as your CD input on the NDX?
I am also slightly confused about your reference to the seek to time feature. I don't think there were any changes made in that area on 3.3 so should basically work exactly the same as 3.2. Are you saying that is not working on 3.3?
Hi TJ,
In n-Stream 3.3 on my iPhone 5, I don't see the controls while I do in 3.2 on my 3GS. Has it to do with the iPhone 5? What I might try is to download v3.3 on my 3GS. If it works it will be related to a problem with the iPhone 5.
The CD input is configured on the NDS and on the 282 and worked before upgrading to firmware 3.21 and n-Stream 3.3.
I will keep you posted once I have tried 3.3 on my iPhone 3GS.
Michel
Well... It has to do with n-Stream. I updated n-Stream 3.2 to 3.3 on my iPhone 3GS and the CD controls disappeared. Incidentally, in the Input window the CD icon is lost. It now looks as a sine wave.
Seek2Time is working correctly on the two n-Stream versions and the two iPhones.
The problem is that I do not know how to revert to n-Stream 3.2...
Michel
TJ,
Like Michael, the Input appears with the picture of a sine wave and when selected, only the volume and mute controls are available. On my NDX, through the automation menu my preamp "Pre CD" is configured as my CD player. I don't think it is relevant, but my preamp is a 102, the automation is done with a RF flasher, and the RC5 codes had to be mapped.
Please let me know if any other information would be helpful. I would be glad to take pictures if they would help.

I posted a way to get back to 3.2 earlier (August 17). Funny thing: on iPhone I had to delete the App first, on IPad it must be installed. Maybe you just try both ways.
Moor the moment I am fine, but someday I want to upgrade to 3.21 or higher and the mini-USB does not run on my Dell Inspirion.
Dear all,
My NDS (with a HDX as UPnP-server) worked fine until 14 Aug when I updated to the new 3.3 version as a good boy when alerted through the App Store. After that I can neither control the NDS via my iPad nor my iPhone 4S. I have also tried iPhone 5 and it does not cut the mustard either. All Apple-units have the latest firmware and the NDS has Version: 3.20.00. The NDS works fine via the supplied remote control and front display (although it feels a little "1980" via the front window without the n-Stream graphics etc.). The n-Stream goes right back to the UPnP-screen regardless of my actions in like 1 second. It states "loading..." and has four items in the Play Queue (4). Nothing can be done. I have also tried to use the Ready NAS as a UPnP rather than the HDX, but this did not solve the problem either. I can see the Play and skip forward/backwards controls, but nothing happens when I try to touch them.
Any way to get back to the old versions (3.2) until this is fixed in the next version?

/Hansi

??? You need a USB to mini USB lead that's all.
As for all the n-stream problems, until it's re-released:
Uninstall app. / switch off all hardware / switch on all hardware / disable Internet Radio on your Naim kit / download nStream to i(whatever)
and carry on listening!
As an option on the new app N-stream, there's an selection for "UPnP compatibility". It's default to non selection and allows playlist and queue of songs. But my app simply crashes when this option is left untouched. When I select this mode, the playlist and queue option disappears, but the crashes also went away. Perhaps that might also influence the CDP issue?

I have exactly the same, though the system is NDX/Supernait1/CD5XS. No RF flashers - just simple wire connectors (and everything at default).
Get a sine wave logo rather than a disk, and no control of the tracks. Happens using N Stream on Ipad 1 and iPhone.
@ hafler3o: it is not the connection, I cannot install the necessary driver.

Strange, my wife's Inspiron seems to work without having to find a 3rd party driver.. I'll have a look later today (at work atm)

CD Control. I think I found your issue, it is specifically when you have configured the streamer system automation with the CD player connected to an external pre-amp rather than the streamer inputs, It works Ok if the CD is connected to the streamer itself. We will have a fix shortly to send to the App store, this could take a week or more to filter down to you iPhones and iPads though
@Stuten,
Yes, this is a known issue that has been discussed in a different thread, We have sent an updated version to the App store that fixes this and should be with you this week (we have to wait for Apple to approve every new version so we cannot say for sure exactly when it will go live)
@rokalf
Sorry, I cannot help with your driver install issues, you could try contacting our support staff to see if they have any insight. Are you using the link to the driver from the Streamer Updater Documentation
@kyoto
The UPnP compatibility mode feature has been there ever since we introduced the play queue feature, it was added in case n-Stream ran into compatibility issues with a UPnP server. Could you try clearing the UPnP cache in n-Stream settings. Also, I'm wondering if it could be related to non-latin characters (i.e. Chinese or such like). Is your UPnP server name using these characters? Or maybe the music on your server?
TJ: I must've missed one or two app upgrades, since this is the first time I've seen this function. My server is all in English, so the theory is not valid I'm afraid.
@TJ: yes, I am using that exact link. It is the same link I get from the Windows Problem Handling. My dealer has already contacted Music Line on the subject.

...at no point since I bought the NDX did I ever consider connecting the CD to the streamer rather than the amp and using the streamer's DAC. Terrible lack of imagination.
I must have a BNC cable somewhere.....
Well, connecting the CDX2.2 to the NDS to use it as transport makes sense because of the quality of the DAC. My CDX2 is an old one (2005) and cannot be used as a transport. It needs an analog input and is hence connected to my 282 preamp.
Best,
Michel

Dear all,
Thanks for the input and help! I have now installed 3.21 firmware and my NDS/HDX works fine with both iPhone 4S and iPad on the 3.3 version app. I discovered elsewhere on this forum while reading on the new 3.21 firmware that it does not do well with 3.20 and requires 3.21 firmware (3.17 etc can work, but not specifically 3.20). 3.21 is installed now and the music is once again cooking in Dear Old Stockholm.
Thanks everybody!
FYI n-Stream 3.4 is now available on the app store that fixes the incompatibility with 3.20.00
Anyone having the Same problems?
What can I do?

Thanks TJ, I just updated even though I had already updated to firmware 3.21.
I have a problem with Album view though, it crashes the app on both minim server and twonky on my NAS drive. It did this on the previous version. Whenever I select the folder entitled albums, the app crashes almost immediately.
Does anyone else have this problem?
As i wrote my previous message, i had still one option i could go for... A reset of my upc router and airport extreme... That did tHe trick. A happy naim user here again. Music playing loudly here in haarlem, netherlands.
