Naim Streamer

come on Naim, whilst your bringing a new product out monthly how about a Naim streamer with out amplification and a dac,
Scott
And where it should be placed betwwen ND5 XS - NDX - NDS?
I find it interesting (to a small degree) that Cyrus launched with such a product and have ended up having to produce one with a DAC.

Do you really think Naim would produce such a product at below the price of a UnitiQute?
Just go buy a Qute and use it's digital out - and pretend that it doesn't have anything else.
Yep naim , streamer only please without amp and dac

+1. For all those people buying the DAC-V1/NAP100.
Streamer without speaker output but with on board headphone amp will be nice. I will get one for my bedroom so that I can enjoy music in bed before going to sleep.

Well yeah it would be less. Why not? No amps, no pre section, no remote, no speaker outs etc....
I'd also like a simple streamer without DAC or amplification to connect to a Naim DAC. Something along the lines of the Moon Audio streamer in a half-width case would be fantastic.
But why not just get an NDX?

Less materials, yes, but probably not worth the time and effort to build one..

+1 for this.
Is a unitiqute a bit over the top just for headphone listening (grado GS1000 'phones)? How good is the integrated headphone output?
Qute2 very good for headphone listening. I have one on my bedside cabinet with PS1000 headphones in (no speakers). What a lovely way to end the day. Only problem is that I am going to bed earlier and earlier!!!

Personally I don't need the DAC in the NDX (as I already have the separate Naim DAC) so simply need the streaming part of the NDX. I know that you can ignore the NDX's analogue outputs and hence its internal DAC but I'd prefer not to have this at all. There may also be benefits in the 'purity' of a simple streamer and keeping all the 'network stuff and noise' away from the 'hi-fi'. Certainly the 'DAC' on the SuperNait is powered down I believe when not in use to maximise sound quality and hence I guess 'less is more' for some things.
You are right that I could get an NDX but I am holding out for a 'streamer only' device which I'm anticipating (perhaps wrongly) is 'on the cards'. Certainly this would match the new smaller DAC and matching amp and provide a separates approach for those not wanting the Uniti with inbuilt amplification etc.
+1 for Streamer without amp/dac for me as well. In a cool case, upgradable with power supply, as my SB Touch has a TP power supply. :-)
