Unitiqute on home demo.a couple of questions

Posted by: Scooot on 21 August 2013

Hi,

I have a Unitiqute on home dem and have a couple of questions.

Sorry if they have been answered before.

I am planning on using the qute as streamer only into my ndac.

1-can my 202 operate my 202 volume without it operating the touch(volume shows on qute going up and down but speakers are set to none) ?

2-when a track title is long can the qute screen info be set to scroll to see all info(sbt scrolled along to give all info) ?

Thanks scott

1 ? What does operating the touch mean?

2 Mine scrolls as a matter of course (actually I don't know how to stop it!) so I'm mystified why yours is different.

Hi hafler30,
Sorry mate, had a long day. I will start again.
1- can the 202 be operated by the remote control independently(when I turn up volume it turns up volume on qute even though I have set the speakers to none. ?
2- can the qute screen be set to scroll as it does not show all info.example(kool and the gang,oh la la la,lets go dancing)info is showing kool and the gang ok.next line down only shows oh la la la lets g.then it has no more screen space to show rest of info.
Hope this makes sense.sorry for confusion in first post.

Scott,

I believe the UQ does not integrate with your preamp, so that changes to volume in nStream have no effect on the digital out of UQ.  i just resort to using nStream to selet music, and my preamp remote for volume control.  Not ideal, but cost effective.  If this is important to you, you can (spend more) get an ND5XS, which can be wired to allow nStream volume control to control the preamp.

If you do end up trying the ND5XS, do report on whether the sound is any different - I have not heard this comparison.

Note also, when you use your preamp's remote, it changes volume on both the preamp and UQ - but of course the UQ volume setting has no effect on the music signal (digital out) in this case.

How do you like the sound?

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for the reply.i have not had to much chance to listen tonight by the time I got in from work and the qute set up.i have the unit till late next week so it will give me plenty of time to listen. My dealer told me not to expect to much as the sb touch is very good and I am basically listening to my ndac.
The reason for the dem is I want to have a all naim system.after the qute I am getting a ndx on loan.if a ndx proves to be the better of the two i will have to see if funds permit.if it were the ndx this would be bare,I could not afford to buy the ndx without selling the ndac.
I will keep you posted.

Hi Scooot,

Sorry I can't help with the vol. query. as I don't have a 202. I do believe the rcom can be made to 'talk' to one device only, my dealer showed me how but I've forgotten (some 3 key sequence on the pad). As for the scrolling, it may be affected by the function of your server and the type of file being played (embedding and all that) Can you tell us what the server hw/sw and primary music file types are?

Scooot: To prevent the Qute's volume level being changed by the remote of your pre-amp you need to change the default setting of the codes used by the Qute and its remote.  There was a recent thread on this called something like 'Different IR Codes'.  It's simple to change and works perfectly.
