Uniti 2 cd problem fixed by firmware 3.21?

Like many others on this forum, my Uniti 2 cd player worked well at first except for the occasional skipping. After 2-3 months, cds would start to take very long to load and the screen would say 'loading' for a long time before my Uniti 2 would read the cd. I emailed Naim who advised me to contact my dealer and get the cd mech and electronics replaced. I did and my helpful dealer proceeded to order the replacement cd mech and electronics for me. As of today the replacement cd mech and electronics has yet to arrive.

Recently I did the 3.21 firmware update which completed with no problems. After that I placed a cd and the screen displayed the dreaded 'loading' again. Normally I just used the remote, but that day I fired up the newly updated n-stream and the cd then loaded immediately. After that I noticed the cd player had no more problem loading cds. All cds would load very quickly, including those badly scratched cds that even my computer cd drive refused to read! Of course, those badly scratched cds would skip occasionally but even that's very infrequent and understandable. I tested for several days and could not get my Uniti 2 to refuse to load any cd.

Did anyone else had this experience? I was wondering whether Naim included a stealth fix in the 3.21 firmware. Suddenly, I am not very sure whether I should replace the cd mech and electronics when the parts arrive...
