What should give best sq

Hi,
I don't really want to end up with a 3 box source so was hoping to get some feedback on 2 suggestions for best sq.

1-ndx / psu(could only push for used xps2)
2-unitiqute or nd5xs / ndac

I already own a ndac so if option 1 is in theory better it would be sold to partly fund ndx / psu.

Hey Scott,

 

Given your current 202/200/NAPSC, probably your best option is to get an NDX eventually partnered with a PSU. It will bring you a very balanced system. If you search this forum a bit, you will find many, many threads/comments on your 2 suggestions.

Some very good points you make and some more testing for me to do I think.
Taking aside my lack of enthuseism for a 3 box source solution and the fact I could get system automation with nd5xs.as you know I want to go down the all naim ladder would you suggest trying a qute as a streamer only into ndac/xps2.if this were a viable option, buying the qute would leave a chunk of money toward a psu.i know from reading other threads mango monkey rates the qute/ndac/psu set up.

Sigh, once again, there seems to be a need for a streamer w/out a DAC. seems a waste to get a Qute, NDX, etc. as they all have redundant parts - and cost! - if used as a streamer only.

Hi, given the 202/200 I'd be tempted to go for the NDX. The NDX does a superb job IMO with no extra PSU.

The DAC is ultimately better, but again IME, really becomes class leader with a 555PS where I don't think anything surpasses it currently in the Naim stable using just 1x 555PS  (but others do prefer the NDS or CD555).

However to really dig into the benefits of the NDAC with 555PS you are better off with a more revealing preamp / amp.

So.. The NDX into 202/200, I would focus on getting a HicapDR, as that really turbo charges the 202, and leave out the PSU on the NDX.

Thanks for all the replys and advice.i am going to borrow a xps2 to try with the ndac with the qute and nd5xs as streamers.will also try xps2/ndx without ndac.
Simon I have recently traded in my hicap for a hicap dr(I must update profile)

The Ndac is good, even better with an XPS2 and fantastic when that XPS is DR'd. My Unitiserve souunds wonderful thru it.
