J River and uServe

Posted by: A funny thing happened on the way to the on 29 August 2013

Hi all,

I have splashed out on J river and imported to the library. none of the .wav files appear in the library, though they do appear under the "file" view.

They list under "file" as "unknown artist"  "unknown album" which as a Userve ripped  .wav file i guess has something to do with how they are tagged, or not tagged.

However I want to be able to view the albums and associated art etc in J River.

The .wav files that have been imported from the Qnap are fine.

Has anyone encountered this ? and solved it?

Other queries/observations..

1. I see now that the DTC was now encode to .flac, can it encode all the .wav files in one fell swoop?

2. I have looked at the tag/rename bit in Jriver but could nt get it to work so that the albums appear in the library, Has anyone done this?  It loos like it may work?! but I lack the nous.

3. Is there another way to crack this nut?

Thanks  for any thoughts

AJ

JRiver has Tools > Library Tools > Fill properties from filename

which will derive useful tags from the file path. There are lots of options for how tags are extracted - if you get stuck maybe asking on the JRiver forum will be more helpful.  What is the folder/filename structure of your Unitiserve rips? Is there a folder.jpg at the album level that corresponds to the artwork?
