Uniti pos issues with router speed

Posted by: antony d on 08 February 2011

anyone had experience with router speeds and Irad - got new Uniti over weekend, all set up OK - Phono CD Ipod - but can't set up to my router - initail set up OK - Uniti saw my router - entered password since then does not connect?

On broadband at home - router is 2wire 54 Mbs - and have checked speed of signal using laptop 48 - 54 Mbs so little drop off, my thoughts are 54 Mbs is not fast enough for Irad signal?

any advise please?

If you actually do get 54mbits/sec on your WiFi then that is more than fast enough (your internet connection is likely to be far less than that) however WiFi itself is not without its own issues that are outside your control.

The best place to start is to wire your Uniti directly to your router (even itf it's only temporarily) to see whether that sorts your issue - if it does then you need to start looking at why your Uniti isn't connecting reliably to your router by WiFi.

By the way - if you're meaning that your router is one of the BT supplied grey/black units with "2-Wire" stamped into the case then I used to have one of those at a previous (rented) house and had no end of stability problems with it - it needed rebooting every other day and the WiFi would drop out if I had more than a couple of devices connected via wireless ... I just assumed mine was faulty and replaced it with an off the shelf NetGear DG834 and had no problems after that.

Perhaps check you actual throughput speed, your computers may well connect at 54MB/s but I expect actual throughput on wireless G to be around 8-10MB/s tops.

Furthermore wireless is shit.

Thanks - having spoken to Cymbiosys and after a lot of messing around - I found out it was my fault - I was not entering the correct password - all sorted now and Uniti sounds great even with Irad to be honest

password or in my case correct password solves Uniti connection issues - this little black box is superb!!
