Batman Versus Superman etc

"In a world of infinite choices, haunted by constant buyer's remorse, and driven to distraction by endless pointless comparisons who will save us...?

Which is better Morbier or Cabecou?

Chablis v Marcon?

Linn v Naim

Batman V Superman (should I consider upgrading to an optional Batcave or add a Fortress of Solitude which to be honest really costs an arm and a leg)

Alternatvely my dealer suggests Batman v Superman v Ironman (you can get a Stark factory tour and they can repair all the models going back to 1979)

Has anyone out there compared an Ironman with Pepper Potts against a Batman /Lois Lane?

Endless speculation over tiny, quite possibly illusionary differences. Once you have bought your gear are you really going to be comparing it to anything else...

Quite, but without it the Forum would be a lot quieter!

As you say, once you get it home, does it matter if something else is a weeny bit better. I find Chablis a bit dull, I'd much rather have a good Macon.

Superman meet Batman and says :

"You know yesterday, i was flying over the city and at a time, i saw Wonderwoman laying on a large terrasse, very hot ... I see her, my electrostatic erection come in action and RRRRRRrrrrr i fly to her like i can do ;-) "

Then Batman : "So what, did she screamed ?"

Superman : "No, the Invisible Man screamed."

Cheers

Well Tog,

I am a little like you perhaps. I try not to get too worked up by trivial comparisons and in the Naim game at least, I try to go with the flow and see these debates as 'geek fodder'. Besides that, having a lack of knowledge on other Naim boxes, other than stipulated in my profile + nDac and Nait XS, and as far as streaming is concerned, similar lack of knowledge and desire to engage in minute comparisons.

However, I recently undertook an audit on myself, by posing the question "At what time of day does tea taste better?"

I often felt that the last cup of tea of the day tastes better than the first cup of tea of the day. Or more precisely, the first cup of tea after my evening meal, rather than the first cup of tea before breakfast. My theory is that, like wine or beer, the more ones taste buds are familiarised with that beautiful bitter flavour as the day goes on, the stronger the emotional and physical bond to the flavour. I always found the first cup of tea a little unremarkable, unlike most people's reaction to the first cup of coffee of the day. My tea of choice is 'PG Tips' a triangular one cup British brand, that is considered strong in general flavour (not as strong as Yorkshire tea, I might add). Fortunately, I can buy them here in Oslo...thank the heavens for that

Not sure if you are States located, but if you are, I could send you a box so you can also appreciate the evenings tea experience with PG Tips, I would be keen to hear your review

I have two coffee cups - that are exactly the same except for the color. My coffee tastes much better In the yellow cup. I would probably fail in a blind test, but since I don't drink coffee with my eyes closed, that's a moot point.

You probably make it a different strength in each of the two cups. Optical (de)llusion.... I cannot stand making tea in non-white cups for the same reason!

Right, just about to get my last cup of tea for the day...

.....and don't get me started on the 'milk first or last' debate...well as you have probably guest, its milk last for me. This way by regulating the flow of milk I can better define how strong it will be.

Somewhat like Julian.

@Jasonf - needs to be Sainsbury's Red Label for me (happy to send a pack to Oslo) - I do know PG Tips very well (no need for the triangular bags IMHO) and very nice it is too. I also find it tastes better in the evening, better when Mrs Tog has made it and much better when I have had a day from hell at work!

My Naim gear / music files can also sound very different depending on mood, inebriation level, and time of day - seriously different in fact. Which is part of the point, when we listen to different amps etc we can perhaps compare one or two with a dealer but it is rare that we can spend any real time checking the subtle differences between the equipment over time. We inevitably ignore the subtle differences in ourselves and the rest of the world. Which makes it unlikely that we can draw many conclusions from the albeit entertaining comparisons requested or made between different combinations of Naim kit In this forum.

Using a teapot - milk first in the cup - anything else is - frankly - heathen

An artfully plated meal tastes better.

Music sounds best in the dark (or, with very subtle mood lighting only).

And a perfectly rolled joint gets you higher (or so I seem to recall from 35 years ago).

PS - I'm with Jason...milk last in my tea...drives Mrs. Hook to distraction!

Hi Tog,

I hear the Red Label has many admirers.

And nicely put, I tend to to agree.

Milk last here too. Oh, soooo many rituals!

Us heathens make tea in mugs, but they are Sainsburys mugs, coloured outsides but white inners. Milk last to gauge the strength/colour.

I hope Yorkshire tea is better than their bitter?

Milk? Milk?! Why would anybody put the product of a lactating cow in an otherwise decent and complete cup of tea? Next thing, people will start putting sugar in!

Can I be pedantic?  Of course I can!

The amount of milk only impacts the milkiness of the tea - the strength is set when you take the teabag out.  Surely you're not taking the teabag out after adding milk!!!
