2013 not a such good jazz year or ....?

In 2012 I was falling over good an an refreshing jazz recordings. This year seems a bit silent, or do forum members have the feeling I missed something essential.
Interesting jazz from 2013 is like trying to find interesting fiction in Latin written in 2013 :-)
Still, not sure about essential. Not even sure if one could easily accept these as Jazz, but here are 3 improvised music discs I found interesting this year so far:
John Butcher, Thomas Lehn, John Tilbury - Exta (Fataka)
Carl Ludwig Hübsch, Pierre-Yves Martel, Philip Zoubek - June 16th (Schraum)
Elena Kakaliagou, Ingrid Schmoliner, Thomas Stempkowski - PARA Ligo (Creative Sources)
While folks may find this type of stuff a little too abstract (whatever that term means for music), it's worth trying them out just from a hi-fidelity viewpoint. Melody and rhythm are (almost) totally absent, but texture, colours, suspense, dynamics will demand a lot from your kit.

What did you listen to in 2012? It would be a good starting point.
Afraid YanC's taste is not my cup of tea. I rarely listen to music solely for the hi-fi quality. It's the music man!
music? what music?
it's 2013 man, music -the way I suspect you like it- is a thing of the past
still, the comment above was only meant as a means to provoke further research (starting from the hi-fi premise which is the main emphasis of this forum). of course the music and the musicians involved on those discs have nothing to do with hi-fi (probably not even heard of Naim) but hmmm, there you go…

You don't know what I listen to (you are only making assumptions) and I don't know what Bert Schurink is listening too. Not a very good basis for a conversation I would have thought.

the OP did ask for 2013 jazz recordings. and qualified with "refreshing" which I took it to mean not yet another female vocal trying her luck on jazz fm. but, of course i may be wrong...
still, John Tilbury (in my 3 list above) is a name not mentioned here often, but since he is also a Briton I strongly feel he should be investigated more by the Naim crowd, as being one of the greatest pianists to come out of the UK the last 50 years.
No disrespect to you,or John Tilbury, but not someone I'm familar with. If you think he's that good just wondering where you would rank him alongside say Stan Tracey, John Taylor or come to that Gwilym Simcock?

Apologies I was a couple of days out of the air. Things I loved to listen to in 2012:
Brad Mehldau (the two CD's)
Christian Scott
Ambrose Akushmire
Neil Cowley Trio
.....

It's a 2013 release of - an original style weirdo jazz that maybe in danger of getting overlooked.
Very entertaining imho : )
