Home Theater for 6,000 gbp
Posted by: AMA on 11 September 2013
My friend is about to buy Oppo-103 or Oppo-105.
He wants to spend 6,000 -- 7,000 gbp on Oppo/amplifiers/speakers/sub (5.1 or 7.1)
Any advise ?
I think your friend would be best visiting an AV dealer with demoing distance. There's probably a few of Naim dealers on the approved list who also do AV who can help him out.

He did -- Bose, Marantz, Harman/Kardon/JBL, Onkio/Infinity.
None of them sounds any close to my stereo system Oppo-103/nDAC/555PS/282/HC/250.2/Katana (LFE channel is programmed to mix through stereo channels).
Any other options but cheaper than mine? Naim/Linn possibly?
Hello Ama,
I'm not exactly familiar with the use of Naim equipment, but I do know that the Oppo 105 has a volume controlled (multichannel) analogue output that allows it to be directly connected to (Naim) power amps and/or an active sub. Your friend might be able to match your gear quality-wise, after all
Add a Velodyne sub and your friend will reach audio Nirvana for sure!
Regards,
Christian

Tony M on here traded a load of Naim boxes for an all in one AV UNIT but i can't remember the name of it. He's very happy with it anyway so it might be worth waiting until he sees this thread and can reply.
OK Rakkit, seen it...
I went from 2xNAP150s/AV2/NAP145 to an Anthem MRX 700 processor, with the left & right channels still being powered my stereo setup. Sound quality with the Anthem's excellent using its inbuilt room equalisation software & it's a lot more convenient than my old setup so I'm very content.
I'm using nSats for surround speakers & an Axess centre channel speaker.

Anthem MRX 700 is a fully integrated all-in-one box.
Do you still run its outputs into Naim power amps?
