nStream iOS7 ready?
Posted by: Chris Bell on 17 September 2013
iOS7 is supposed to go live tomorrow. Is the nStream app ready or should we wait?
I'm running my iPhone 5 on iOS7 and it is working good. Only problem i have is when i select just 1 song and try to play it, the app shuts down. It might be an iOS7 problem because i never had it before. But I solve it by just pressing play so the whole album goes in the play list.
At the moment I run the new nStream app and the new streamer version 3.21.
Seems like Sonos are expecting issues with their Controller / iOS7 interface...
From an e mail circular I received yesterday:
'Unfortunately, we have encountered some issues related to the Sonos Controller for iPhone and iPad and the final, released version of iOS 7.
We are planning to release an update for your Sonos Controller for iPhone and iPad near the end of the month that addresses these issues. We ask that you take this into consideration before updating your devices to iOS 7.'
Hopefully nStream/nServe will not be impacted.
There is another thread about this. Anyway, N-Stream crashes on iOS 7 when you select a track to play.

nStream definitely crashes for me if I select 'Play this Track' But it'll play an entire cd fine.
Working fine with me. On both iPhone and iPad.

Same for me on multiple Unitis, tried 5 I-touch, 3 Ipads, 3 I-phones in 3 different networks, no issues.
I've updated my iPad and nStream has carried on fine. I can play single tracks with no problems at all. And the predictive text seems to work better too, which is a definite plus.
N-Serve fine. G
What about n-serve? I've just upgraded my iPad to iOS 7 and now, When I Edit coverart Serve does not enter Google automatically, it just Close.
Just finished updating iPhone 5 and iPad 3. n-Stream single track crashing on iPhone but not on iPad. Strange...
Figured I would try uninstalling and reinstalling n-Stream to see if I could get single tracks to play. No luck. App just quits. Odd how some folks are having issues and others are not.
Tried it yet another time on a Uniti2 and my I-phone5, crashes on single track this time.
Still Ok with the Ipad.
Of course the searches on external engines (Google, Wikipedia, Youtube, Amazone) don't work, but that's a known issue.

Hmm, I just tried that to check. If you try to change cover art, the nServe app just crashes. I'll try reinstalling. Luckily all my CDs are now ripped, but while I was ripping them all the covers often needed changing, so if this is not fixed it will be a serious issue.
I've reinstalled nServe and it doesn't allow you to change cover art. Let's hope Naim can get a quick fix.
nstream on my on my iPhone ios7 crashes, I will hold off the upgrade to ios7 on my ipad
NStream seems fine on the iPad, it's just nServe that appears to have issues so far.
N-Stream on iPad fine here as well, will try iPhone tomorrow. Hope all get sorted ASAP.
Good luck.
Thank you HH, good to get my observations confirmed. The Edit functions in n-serve are really great and needed for further ripping.
Yes, n-stram on iPad works just fine as far as I can see.

All OK with nStream on iPad Mini, Sonos working OK as well. Gives me confidence to do the iPad 2 and 3 as well.

iOS7 / nStream working fine on my iPad mini. I was unable to replicate the bug mentioned above.
Yes , working. But what a disgusting interface ! Before, everything mixed well with color and so on. Now, with this new "washing powder" color code - white and light blue - it really breakes the feeling when using the app. I don't find it more "readable" or convenient.
So let's think upgrading the app with a new color code with white and light blue !?!?
terrible :/
I'm not seeing any colour difference with the new version apps and iOS7 on my iPod Touch 5th Gen.
All colours as normal.....

Are you talking about iOS7 Ikoun? Agree with you on that one.
nStream looks no different on my devices.
Sorry, yes, maybe you mean new colour ways on iOS7 are pants, not that the nServe app has changed colour?
Agreed. It looks rubbish. There should be more scope for customising the look of the iOS interface. I cannot shut down an app by tapping and holding, then tapping the cross. I now have to swipe it off the screen. Why? Maybe there is some way of customising the appearance and operation? I don't see anything. Not the end of the world but it is exasperating.
