3.21 Multiroom, Party Mode question.
Posted by: quisquose on 18 September 2013
The firmware on my Superuniti is 3.17 and I'm wondering whether to update to 3.21.
If I had the Multiroom facility enabled, what would I need in the other room to make use of it? Given that it would be such an occasional use, what would I need that's cheap?

Having read the details on this site, I guess I'm wondering if this will work with a non-Uniti device.

A secondhand Qute at firmware 3.21, it's a system designed with Naim products in mind...
It's kind of like playing both systems at the same time sync'ed up (they can both play the same or different music at the same time independently without Multiroom enabled). I've shunted what I'm playing downstairs upstairs a few times, so my wife can hear it if she's interested.
A secondhand Qute would cost about the same as the price (I told my wife) I paid for the Superuniti, so is totally beyond possibility for occasional music in the kitchen when there is already a decent CD/DAB/iPod unit in there.

Let's hope she never sees a Naim price list then , otherwise all she'll cook you is porkie pies, as you like them so much
Porkie pies is the perfect food for the man who's wife has left him. I can see my future now ...
Single light bulb, no shade, hanging from the ceiling. Weeks of washing up in the drainer. Wooden storage boxes for furniture. Me sat in the same pants and t-shirt that I've worn for weeks, eating cheese on toast ... again. But £20k of Naim equipment carefully arranged in the corner.

Bliss! Have Daiylea Dunkers on hand if you don't fancy all the faffing around making toast !

Back on topic ... is that what the Party Mode is for?

Lol, I got it! I suppose there's no harm trying. But seriously I once did go to a Pot Noodle party.
Hello, Heath Robinson here ...
What was I saying about "cheap" again. I've just got multiroom working in the kitchen for zero cost and whilst still on firmware 3.17.
I've plugged a FM transmitter into the headphone socket!
