We had the thrill of seeing Fleetwood Mac at the O2 in Dublin last Friday (20 September). The song set was a good mix of the expected, along with a couple of tracks from the new album and a couple of Stevie Nicks numbers.
They rocked for a good 3 hours and it was great to see. Stevie does not look her 65 years and Lindsay made the show for me. His artistry on the guitar is simply magical. Three of them spoke from time to time - including a rambly story from Stevie about a rediscovered lost song. The ramble took three times longer than the song took to sing. There was not a peep from John McV and no appearance by Christine.
The only downside of the concert was the sound quality at the O2. The moment Mick started, all else was drowned by his drumming. Bass lines were lost, vocals unintelligible and the overall sound was basically abysmal. There was some remission when Mick left it to Stevie and Lindsay, but the moment he was behind his drum set, all you heard really was Mick.
Whether Mick had paid off the sound engineer or the O2 has poor acoustics, well the jury is out on that one.
Overall we were delighted to see the band, but this was tempered by the sound quality in the venue.

Saw fleetwood mac at London O2 last night and they were awesome despite appalling SQ . We also had Christine for the encore which bought the roof down.Lindsey proved that he really is one of the top 10 guitarists of all time. Truly wonderful evening

I too was at the O2 on Wednesday, loved every minute but thought the sound where we were was great - ok, I was 6 rows from the front just off-centre, but have to admit as I walked back for a "break" the sound changed quite quickly and not for the better.

We're different, you and I. Appalling SQ always completely ruins a concert for me.
I no longer go to large venues as a result. Yes I miss seeing lots of "big" bands, but that's kind of how I like it. As I don't have any "connections" in the industry I couldn't ever get decent seats at a big venue anyway. They seem to be reserved for people more important than I.

I certainly have no connections, but know what you mean! It's all about knowing when tickets go on sale, then checking the Wednesday before (if it is a Friday general sale) and searching for presales. i actually paid an extra £15 per. ticket off a good seller on eBay this time but normally I manage ok.
