Unitilite - how to turn the radio off

Posted by: John Byrne on 23 September 2013

Hi all,

I'm enjoying my Unitilite but can't work out how I'm expected to turn the radio off. The stop buttons on the facia and handset don't have any effect on the radio. Selecting a different input works but that means finding one which isn't live, like selecting CD when there's no disk in. I know that I can mute it but un-muting hours later instantly brings back the radio. Is it using power all that time?

Just use the mute. It will use the same power, as it's switched on. I bet it sounds good, the Lite is a really nice little box.

.. as HH says, after 5mins on mute the data stream will be halted to save bandwidth and download allowance

Thanks. Is that your solution or is that the official method? There's nothing in the manual. I wonder what the developers had in mind?

Why are you worried? Just hit mute and be done with it.

Thanks guys,

I'm not worried but given that there are stop buttons on both fascia and handset it seems strange that they don't work for DAB etc radio.

I agree that the manual does say that if mute is used it will stop internet access after 5mins but that's not the same as saying "to turn off the radio in all modes use the mute button".

It just seems that the manual is a bit deficient in the guidance for general use though there's plenty on setting up the various functions.

In the world of Tech. Publications Naim's manuals are actually rather good I think.. but you have a point, the inference is there but I too prefer everything in black and white!
