Guilty Pleasures

Posted by: Dungassin on 24 September 2013

Didn't know whether to post this here or in Music Room, although it IS partially music related, so ...

I've been having what I call a 'guilty pleasures afternoon'

Started off with Steel Panther.  Great heavy metal band, even if they are a spoof group, and the lyrics always make me laugh. Don't listen if you're easily offended, though.

Finished off with (would you believe!) Showaddywaddy.  My kids would probably call me an old fart for listening to them, and damned if I didn't know all the words!

Think I'll finish off the evening by watching a 'mindless violence' type film (Stallone, Schwarzenegger etc) and then a Romcom.

Isn't it nice to be non PC occasionally?

I LOVE Mud!

Kevin,

I was a member of a Boys Club, between the ages of 9-12 in the very late 70's very early 80's and our sole purpose was to make old people feel happy by ad-libbing to various songs, playing wooden guitars and dressing up as women, padded bras and tights and all. Even some of the boys parents were party to this Carnival.

I have to say that I loved it. I was first introduced to Mud and the Sweet at this boys club, 'Blockbuster' is one of my all time favorite tracks and I was the front man.

Also from this period I got to know Dr Hook, who I have a soft spot for, they were a great hit with the oldens then. It was also the time of Bucks Fizz (I was Cheryl) and Tight Fit (I was a loin cloth cladded drummer.

Anyway, I guess that really is enough guilty pleasures for one day.

Jason.

And let us not forget 'Ballrom Blitz' which I heard today in the office on Norwegian radio, slightly odd ...but uplifting.

Jason.
