Streamer Update Finished - Please switch off ?
Posted by: ChrisH on 24 September 2013
Just had the above message appear on the display of my Uniti 1.
Strange, because I did the Update back in August and haven't been tinkering since.
Just wondering why the message appeared and what just happened.
Anyone else had a random message appear on their streamer's display recently?
Yes, I've had this a couple of times since I updated my Qute back then. I think the issue has been mentioned before but I can't remember is there was a conclusion.
Thanks Gavin, I guess I missed it.
I just searched for it and found this one: https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...date-finished-notice
but it isnt conclusive.
I had the notice appear again today after I switched off and back on again yesterday.
Its just wierd that it decides to deliver this message 2x now for the first time, 5 weeks after I did the update.
Ill e mail Naim support to ask for further info.
I have the same problem for the past few day on my qute.
I hope it is not hardware failure or design fraud that invite hacker to my home network. Perhaps Richard can help to clarify as this problem is not only unique to ChrisH.
Naim Support suggested to do a factory reset (through Settings menu) which should clear the reoccurring message.
I haven't done it so far as I haven't had the chance (as it will mean re-connecting to the Network, re-assigning the inputs and reprogramming iRadio stations).
But being as the message is reoccurring each time a few hours after switch off/ switch back on again guess I will do it tomorrow to see if it fixes it.
just for info, after switch off/switch back on again, all inputs work fine.
Just when the message appears it stops me being able to operate the Uniti.
I will re-post once I've done the factory reset.
Chris - thanks for posting this. My Qute seems to have given this message every day this week, so I'll try doing the factory reset.
Did the factory reset and then within the hour, I got the Streamer Update Finished - Please Swich Off message again.
Thinking that it hadn't done the trick, I switched the Uniti off and then back on again, but since then, I haven't had the message reappear!
So maybe it did work.
Ill leave it a few days and re-post accordingly.
I did my factory reset on Friday afternoon, and I've had no unwanted messages since. Still got my fingers crossed though.
My problem continue after factory reset!
Hoping I won't jinx things, but since getting the message again immediately after factory reset a couple of days ago (only once)followed by Uniti off and then on again, I haven't received it again.
Hopefully this has resolved it for me.
NDT, I would suggest you drop an e mail to Naim Support if you are still getting the message after doing the factory reset, maybe they can suggest something else to clear it for you.
Folks
My Qute seems to have started doing this again. Anyone else still having this issue? Was a more permanent solution found?
Thanks
Gavin
I moved to a SuperUniti in December, so I'm not sure if my Uniti 1 is exhibiting this behaviour again Gavin.
But from September to when I sold the Uniti in December, the message didn't ever reappear.
Guess I can only suggest another factory reset or to make contact with the Naim Support team.
Hope you can get it resolved.

Hi,
as resetting my UnitiQute to factory defaults did not remove the problem I did the complete upgrade to firmware 3.22 on Wednesday. This morning the message greeted me again. BTW I normally set the UQ to input = CD and Mute when going to bed and the CD player is normally switched off. So what now?
Hi gsh -
there re was a thread about Qute dropping internet connections and other issues not that long ago, during which a few folks noted this particular error message (re-)occurring. The thread was more like a laundry list of observations than a diagnostic approach to problem id or solution. I wrote to naim support and Manu mentioned that he would raise the question also; thus far no replies and no solutions. As it's intermittent, folks are working around using a variety of approaches, but obviously there is no known path forward, and (to my knowledge) no known root cause. Another email ping to support might be the best thing.
Regards alan
Hi,
I have the same issue with my NDX. Very frustrating and not what one would expect as a Naim user. My issues started to appear after uprading to 3.21. Problem remained after updating to 3.22, however not as frequent (my feeling). It also seems that this problem occurs when I use the nStream app. I've never ran into this problem when using the buttons on the NDX.
Can someone from Naim please bring some clarity on how to solve this problem please? Is it a SW or HW bug?
Wadkri, the guys from Naim do visit the forum from time to time to ofer advice and wisdom but to be sure they answer you, you should contact Naim Support or your dealer.
They don't always see the issues when they arise on the Forum.
Details for Naim Support can be found in a sticky on the forum.

Thanks!
I contacted Naim about this issue on my Qute, and I'm afraid it requires a trip back to Salisbury to be solved. I'd tried the factory reset and actually did an update to v3.22 of the software - but that had no effect.
I replied to them to say that it hadn't happened in a while, but of course that put the mockers on it and the message was waiting for me on the Qute display when I got home.
