Have you changed your broadband supplier from BT?

They are booting loads of folks - or offering you the chance to pay £1.60 per month for the privilege of using their email.

I was with them for nigh on 20 years, jumped to Plusnet (who they own for heavens sake) and yup - I have been booted.

Having said that - BT Yahoo is still there as I just went to it..

They also cut off a good friend from right outside his home, instead of the house the other side which was vacant.

Three weeks later and an awful lot of calls from someone else's phone to their delightful call centre in the East he decided to go with Virgin. Why would that be?

no, i've been with bt yahoo for years

when i try to sign in i get the dreaded:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Posted on: 25 September 2013 by Kevin-W

I use BT Yahoo (and have a .btinternet.com address, not having any problems. But I use OSX and Firefox as my browser (just checked and BT internet works fine with Safari and Chrome as well).

I know BT are due to dump Yahoo! as their email supplier (thank christ) next month or thereabouts - maybe it's something to do with that?

Time to run a system restore from when you could last access the net I would think then.

Then run a full system check with spybot & malware bytes just to be sure.

I can access BTYahoo no problem, but does this mean I may have email problems in the future, or might have to change my email address?   It would be a real pain having to tell all my contacts a new address.

Same here!

I don't think so D. Your email address(es) should remain the same. The big difference is you'll probably get less spam and you won't get all that Yahoo! crap around your inbox.

One thing that happened a couple of weeks ago ...

BT Yahoo seemed to update itself, and I had Facebook on the Yahoo App Toolbar.  It then wanted to link my 'friends' to all sorts of things.  I promptly removed FB from the toolbar, and now just access it via the 'favourites' star at the top right of the page

Why FB?  Well, my children frequently post pictures of the grandkids, and it's nice to see them.

We have had problems in the Lutyens' household for the past 24hrs with this too. In the end I deleted and then added the accounts back in and it seems to be working. It seemed to happen at much the same time as I updated IOS7 on my phone! Not all our ipads/iphones were updated tho' and the issue affected all of them! And as an aside, my updated phone still struggles to find btinternet unless it is connecting via a bt hub!

all rather odd.

sorry but to add.....I received an email from BT informing me that they were about to lose certain bt email addresses. It appears they are trying to get everyone over to Broadband and some of us have bt email addresses that predate the introduction of Broadband. To keep your email address you have to make sure it is refrenced rather than attached to your Broadband account. I use those words carefully.Even when i took out out Broadband it appears i have another email address, ( that I never use!) referanced to my Broadband account. My existing email address is just attached to the account. So last week I spent 2 hours phoning BT, not as easy as you might think it should be!, eventually found someone who knew what i was talking about and then made sure my btinternet.com address is referenced to my account as my primary account and therefore will not be deleted at the end of this month.

It is/was all very confusing and difficult to get to the bottom of. Others will know more than I I am sure.

I use BT Yahoo email with Plusnet broadband. My email address' are @btinternet.com or proxies (pre-BT ownership of Yahoo). No problems here and heard nothing from BT. Should I have my fingers crossed?

I can log on to the BTYahoo website. Have you managed yet Debs?

bt yahoo don't work for me now.

But i am able to sign in though bt.com

The only thing this affects is my email domains

i'm trying to change the home page and re-configer things -

all very confusing to us technophobes.

funny things is, i get very little junk mail or spam though yahoo,

but the [unwanted and unasked for] adverts are highly anoying with a very slow waste of time download which one has to wait out before being able to open emails! : <

to think i'm paying for this crap service too!

i least i get a chance to use the angry emoticon - makes me laugh is does.

all our email access failed this afternoon after my earlier posts. Just spent 1hr on the telephone trying to sort it. I would suggest that some btinternet accounts have already been seperated from Yahoo and as you have found Debs must now, and can now only be accessed from BT.com. So if you are remote then you must use BT.com. I also had to change my password to enable my access via bt.com.

Mrs Lutyens' accounts however even when accessed from BT.com are going to a Yahoo page!

Who knows!

Ths man in the call centre explained to me that BT was sending out emails to us all to explain that we would now need to log in via BT.com and then change our passwords. I pointed out the folly of this as some of us would never receive the email if our accounts could not be accessed etc!

I will have to see if this works on ipads/phones etc! later when i get home.

So now we have to sign in via bt.com

But after doing this it directs me back to yahoo.uk again where, quite unbelievably, i have to sign in again full email address + password again for second time!

In other words BT say i can’t sign in via yahoo and must use bt.com but when i do this i get redirected to yahoo again and have to sign in all over again too.

It would seem BT are being deliberately annoying to their customers, I don’t understand why they want to do this.
