Added IRadio stations don't work

Posted by: JamesL on 15 October 2013

This morning I added 2 IR stations to my UnitiLite (firmware 3.21).  They are in fact displayed as "Added" but neither works.

One has a very simple URL http://www.classicalone.info/classicalone.html .  I've tried replacing the domain name with the IP address (72.167.131.41) but this doesn't help.

     Any insight/help greatly appreciated.

Did you add it to favourites via nStream? That always seems to work ok.

Thanks for the suggestion but, as I own an android phone and an android tablet, I'm still waiting to enjoy nStream.  And since Naim seems to be silent these days as to their android plans (they used to be working on it), I'm not optimistic.

Hmm. I would really struggle to use the streamer (I have a SuperUniti) without nStream. Maybe get an iPad mini? It makes the whole user experience so much better. That said, you can add stations via the remote quite easily. Have you tried that?

No, I'm ignorant re the remote.  I just reviewed section 3.7 in the UnitiLite manual ("UnitiLite Remote Handset") and remain clueless.  Can you point me at documentation or summarize?  Thanks very much.

I thought that the only way to add new stations was via vTuner web interface. The Classical One address seems to direct to a web page which uses a flash player. I quess that might be the reason why it does not play on Uniti (the actual stream address would be needed).

Thanks, Osprey.  I'd half-figured this out (re the stream address) and found the following in the source code for the web page: http://www.krykey.com/Radio/PRSPage.aspx?id=1209

When I input this address into a web browser it plays immediately.  But it still doesn't play in my UnitiLite.  And I can't find another URL in the source for that page.  Drat.

There has to be a better way.  But I've been looking at web sources of methods to identify the direct URL of a stream source and quickly get over my technical head.

If there's no straightforward way to do it, the heck with it.  But, as I'm 0 for 2, I'm thinking manually adding channels is nowhere nearly as easy as NAIM makes it appear to be in the manual.
