British MPs

As my last topic made me so popular(MOANS) and increased my fan base by several thousands, thought i would make myself even more liked with this new topic.
So come on which are good, which are bad and who is ugly. Who do you think does a good job and who is a total Banker. What grates your teeth about our MPs?
I will start the debate, backlash by saying Ed Balls-up is a total and utter 100% Banker. I would not let the man see an old lady across the road.

Here we go again................................................
Just for the record "someone once said electors get the politicians they deserve".
Note: must remember to de-select "following this topic".
Ed Balls is not for real; it is an android that has problems with its programming. It has an audio tape loop problem & some of its mouth & limb animation is not sequencing correctly.
The audio defect causes repeated sound such as “its flat lining - its flat lining– its flat lining” This defect is causing a the limb control to wave its arm in a sideways motion with the audio. The facial control unit applies a supercilious grin that gets locked in whenever its attempting to compute questions on counting money.
Seriously folks, if the less than functional mob in partial control at the moment don’t get it right in the next 17 months, we will have that android in charge of our piggy bank.
SCARY

I am 'moaning' that you are not using the 'Litter Tray' thread. I do like order in my council
Jason.
With my 'local' head on I'm impressed by our new MP Julian Smith who replaced a very longstanding and much loved previous incumbent (David Curry). It is safe as houses Tory blue here but he's been impressive. Energetic on local issues, visible and approachable. He's also helped us and provided support and advice during the stages of local health reform with a party 'perspective' but not slavish adherence to the party line.
He's been good and the community respects that indpendent of party politics. Perhaps you get more value from a backbench MP.
Is it me or does the Speaker sound like a complete idiot much of the time?

I have to say, I can't see how Balls could possibly do a worse job than the smirking, self-satisfied cretin who currently occupies No.11.
Not satisfied with authoring such idiotic disasters as the sell-off of Royal Mail on the cheap; and further inflating the housing bubble with the ill-conceived "Help [buy-to-let-spivs] to Buy" scheme, this oaf has now been hawking what little remains of our once great nation to the Chinese.
I hear the that the next thing to be privatised will be the probation service. FFS!

Sorry Mike, it can't be more scary than the wankers we've got in at the moment.

Kevin Ed ballsup wants to spend our way out of trouble, great if it works but jesus if that were to go tits up our debt mountain would be like Everest.
have to say selling off the postal service and on the cheap was a big,big mistake, should never have been allowed to happen. The big players are going to make a killing with their shares. Son in law is a posty and he is not happy.
glad to see the Jazz fella it not watching this topic anymore, was going to offer to buy him a New Anorak.

"Do I think the last Labour government was profligate, spent too much, had too much national debt? No, I don’t think there’s any evidence for that"
Ed Balls, 3 Jun 2013
There is NO WAY anyone with half a brain can believe that, then ask how can anyone even think about electing such an idiot.
The Coalition mob has its faults & some of them do not sit easy with me or many centre/right side voters.
The Royal Mail sell off has yet to stand the test of time before its price stabilises. The Help to Buy housing initiative is at least an initiative that will also create jobs (wasn't that the Ed Balls mantra) I do not see it causing another bad dept problem per the 2007/8 crash but I have a concern that it could cause prices to rise if its not matched with new build.
Hawking off the nation has been going on for years, labour & the unions probably had more to do with that if you check the history books - making our industry worthless & what remained to be picked off at rock bottom prices - how many British car makers these days - who makes all our airplanes - the plan for the new nuclear power stations is to buy French - the rail system dominated by Japan & Germany ...........
All ConDems are scumbags but the LibDems are the worst and will, rightly, disappear at the next election.

Mike, stop trying to make excuses for the catastrophic mistakes of this wretched coalition.
If you check the history books, selling off the nation's assets is nothing to do with the unions or indeed Labour (Blair's New Labour is another matter of course) but Thatcher's neo-liberal project of the early 1980s (so you're right, at least, in that it's being going on for years).
The decline of British industry has at least as much to do with poor design and quality control, weak management and complacency as it has the unions.
As revealed by the Financial Times this morning, the Royal Mail was undervalued by about £2bn.
Actually, I don't approve of Balls or Moribund as he is too weak. What we need is a radical government who will:
- Re-nationalise gas, electricity, water, railways and the Royal Mail
- Cancel vanity projects HS2 and Trident (that should save at least £50bn straightaway on HS2, plus another £83bn over the next 50 years on Trident)
- Crack down on tax avoidance by both corporations and wealthy individuals
- Abolish buy-to-let mortgages (anyone wanting to buy a property with the intention of renting it out would have to buy in cash) and limit the number of rental properties one can buy within any one year
- Disallow non-resident foreign property speculators from buying housing in the UK
- Very high rates of tax/council tax on second, third etc homes (ie any house that is not one's principal residence) - these incomes to be ring-fenced to build proper social housing
- Abolish stamp duty
- Introduce rent controls
- Bring the banks to heel (eg bonuses to be held in escrow and not released for at least five years, to encourage long term thinking rather than short-term gambling)
- Bring back compulsory Latin in schools.
Don't suppose we would get any of that although all of the above would go a long, long way to solving some of our current problems.
That's a fine list. A good grounding in Latin may be particularly useful! Hang on, isn't Boris rather good at it?

Kevin I could think of another word beginning with B.... for Boris. Excellent answer to Mike B.
If people really want to see what damage the CON /DEMS have done to this country they need to travel much further North than Watford Gap!

To take gas, electric, water etc back into public hands IMHO would be brilliant,as i do not feel any private firm should be allowed to make a profit from what i feel are essential public services.
Only problem as i see it is(A) how much is that going to cost, and (B)where is the money going to come from.
Will the Bongo Bros be willing to chip in ?

I suppose you buy them back at the price they were when they floated. Since virtually everything was sold off on the cheap to the Tories, New Lab and the ConDems' mates in the City, it shouldn't cost too much...
I'll ask the Bongo Brothers for a whip round when I go to the Boleyn later this afternoon
That's one word for him. A dangerous man lurks beneath the bumbling disguise.
I do some work occasionally for one of his charities. He is an unbelievably ambitious, and very clever, man. Boris is what Dave is more scared of than anything else.
If he ever became PM, he would be a disaster for the country - unless he actually had some very talented, hardworking, lieutenants around him.

The price is neither here nor there. It shouldn't have been sold in the first place.
Let's give it five years. Let's see, when you have to pick your parcels up from some out-of-the-way warehouse on an industrial estate; when you're paying huge amounts for the most basic mail service; when your granny who lives in the country gets twice-weekly, instead of daily, deliveries; when you are overwhelmed by junk mail and circulars; when you have no relationship with the guy who delvers your mail; when the world's oldest postal service is owned by the Germans, French or Chinese...
Then we'll know if this ill-conceived flogging off of yet another one of our prize assets has "stood the test of time".

Kevin (& Co), please do not misunderstand me, I am not a great fan of the coalition for many reasons. But please do not get so excited because I am less of a fan of Labour & other left wing leanings.
I fear that if your list ever turned into a Labour Party manifesto they would have no chance. It will for sure divide the country even more, even north of the Watford Gap.
I would like to see strong decisive political party's of all persuasions, each strengthens the other & stops some of the legislation disasters that both sides have been responsible for over the years. The problem that I see is the days of a left leaning labour movement are over; the years of Wilson & Callahan, the ineffective leadership of the years prior to Blair & especially so until the bitter taste of the final years of Blair & Brown/Balls are a fading memory.

But it's not all bad news because the UK taxpayer does get to keep one part of the Royal Mail. That part being the pension fund that is £9.5 billion in deficit.

Ah, they're doing a grand job for us all, those nice Messrs Cable, Cameron and Osbourne.

Could cover half the cost a new nuclear power station rather than letting EdF fund it...............

Latine! Quam magnus, Boris amabo te!
(Kevin, Grade E Latin A-Level, MCMLXXXI)
cole caputs (google translator maybe). The only languages we did at school were still living.
Wasn't latin still a living language when you were at school then Howard?
