HDX refuses to play anything.

Posted by: blythe on 21 October 2013

This afternoon, I have tried several times to play music from my HDX.

Whenever I select a track, either using N-Serve on my iPhone or iPad, or from the front panel of the HDX, it simply gives me the message "Please Wait", then reverts to the home screen.

On the IOS apps, it says "Queuing Album"  followed by "Playing" but then never actually plays.

I have shut down the HDX, powered it off, waited a few minutes and restarted it, but still nothing.

If I try to connect to a radio station, it says "connecting" then "buffering" then does nothing.

Under the "Maintenance" tab of n-Serve running on my Macbook, "Playback Service Status" says "Channel 1     Unknown[SoundCard] - Initiallising"

My HDX is only 3 months or so old, running app version 2.7.7147 and server version 1.6d

It appears to still rip CD's OK and the back-ups seem to work to my 2 x NAS.

I should add that all other sources play fine, so I can rule out my 252 etc.

Any ideas? Or has my HDX died on me?

New sound card on its way..... Might just be a loose connection but just in case..
Many thanks to the Naim service department

Hi Blythe.

I have experienced the same issue with my NS01. Unknown[SoundCard] - Initiallising. Everything but playing music and iradio works well.

Is your problem with the HDX solved? Did you have to replace the sound card?

Regards Knut

Naim sent a new sound card to my dealer who installed it. I'm pleased to report that replacing the sound card immediately fixed the problem.
