New Unitiserve power cable.

My US just came back from major surgery, and the power cable has sprouted some kind of an appendage, which to my memory wasn't there before. Anything known?

A photo perhaps?  No idea what you're talking about here!

OK Bart. I'll see about that when I'm next at home.

I thought they all came with a little pre psu filter brick in the power cable ?

James is correct, they have a filter in the mains lead to stop noise from the power supply getting into the mains. If I were you, I'd get a proper linear power supply, which will really improve the sound. The one you need is in my profile. Worth every cent of the $399 it costs.

Thanks to all. I will look into it HH.

David, if by 'appendage' you are referring to this, it's the filter, as James and HH have indicated :

I did not think that that was a very recent edition to the uServe -- the unit I purchased new over 2 years ago has that.  I'd be surprised if the psu was changed during a service visit.  Perhaps the OP just didn't remember it?

I'm confusing myself! It was probably in the box all the time, but I didn't notice it, and used a spare cable which was lying around the Fraim from an earlier component, now removed. Thus, I didn't have the 'benefit' of the filter until now. Does anyone know if it has any effect?
