ND5XS remote control

Posted by: lormar on 22 October 2013

I  recently bought a ND5XS. The experience is  far better using an iPad than with the standard remote control.  But the iPad is property of my wife and we always need it at the same time... If not an other iPad what is the best device for remote control of the ND5XS? An iPad mini (lighter, cheaper), an iPod touch( even more cheaper, but how does it works?) or an iPhone (I probably need a new telephone). And what iPhone? In Italy now I can find iPhone4s and the new  iPhone5s/5c. Or a preowned Phone5?

Thank you for the advices

I use an iPhone as a ND5 XS remote and just upgraded to the iPhone 5S. I had an iPhone 4S before that.

Are you asking if the N-Stream app has any difference between 4S and 5S? No difference, other than 5S is a faster device.

I don't use it a whole lot, but it worked fine for me on both phones. I mostly play vinyl.

i use an ipod and its fine, would be nicer on an ipad (bigger that is) bit the ipod works very well and in theory is only a remote in t he end.

I don't know what the iPhone 5 optimization is. I didn't notice a difference from 4S to 5S.

However, I don't use it a lot. I have a folder of Classical Flac files stored on a NAS. I browse by folder and play complete works at a time. I don't use playlists, etc. and some of the other features.

also my use is (and i believe will be) basic (no Playlist etc), but i'm a newcomer in this way of listening

If you go for the iPad mini wait until next month as Apple are realising a new one.

Or you can get the current, original iPad Mini for $100 less than before ($299 in the US).
