WiMP Hifi

WiMP Hifi provides a lossless streaming service with ALAC Files in CD quality.

Does anyone use it?

I assume all the other such as Simpfy, Spotify aso will follow.

Maybe just an intermediate step to Hi Res online streaming?

As of very recently, yes. The triggering factor being that its now supported on the Squeezebox-line of products.

Not much to share at this time. It works much the same way as Spotify etc. Sound-quality is good, though I haven't done any serious attempts at comparing.

Would be interested to hear the experiences of others.

I'm guessing high-res streaming is still relatively far away...

Just subscribed for trial. 20 milions tracks, nice. It is their own database or shared from other sources?

Yes its IMO the first viable (catalogue-wise) lossless streaming offering on the market.

Think I read that they get the lossless files transferred directly from the labels.
